The first thing people notice about Post Malone is probably that he is white. In the world we live in, seeing a white hip-hop artist is no longer big news. But it’s not just that he’s white, it’s also that his look feels like a cross between the ghetto/hip-hop look and the hippie look.

Malone has made a name for himself in his short time as a musician. His path to success may have been unintentionally triggered by a song he released on SoundCloud in 2015, but he has since recorded several singles that stormed the charts and an album to prove that he is not a “one-hit wonder”.

Post Malone, born in Austin Richard Post fell in love with music at an early age thanks to his father’s experience as a DJ. At this point in his life, he introduced Malone to a variety of musical styles, including rock, country, and hip-hop.

Malone shares a very interesting factor in his native country. He was born on July 4, 1995, which means that he is a holiday child, born on the most famous national holiday in the United States. He was born and raised in Syracuse, New York with his father Rich Post, and his stepmother Jodie Post until they moved to Grapevine, Texas. His father had just gotten a job with the Dallas Cowboys as a concession manager.

Post Malone’s first instrument of choice was the guitar, thanks to the popular video game Guitar Hero. With the help of DIY YouTube videos, he eventually taught himself to play the instrument. In 2010, at the age of 15, he even auditioned for a band called Crown The Empire but was rejected because his guitar strings broke during the audition.

Malone has dabbled in various musical styles; he was part of a metal-rock band at Grapevine High School, which he attended. Post eventually switched to softer rock and hip-hop and then began learning how to use FL Studio. At 16, while in high school, he released his first self-produced EP. He showed it to his friends, and they loved it. That gave him a little bit of local popularity. In his final year of school, he was voted “Most Likely to Become Famous” by his classmates.

The college was not meant for Post Malone, as he dropped out of Tarrant County College months after enrolling. With this father’s blessing, he moved to Los Angeles with his best friend and professional game streamer Jason Probst to pursue his musical dream.

Musical Success

He, Probst, and some other artists and producers moved into a house in San Fernando and formed a group called BLCKVRD. Here he met 1st, Rich from FKi and Rex Kudo. Rex would later produce several songs for Post, including the hit White Iverson, which referred to retired basketball icon Allen Iverson.

He had written the song and produced it within two days. He casually uploaded it to his SoundCloud account in February 2015, and in the first month, to his surprise, he received over one million listeners and 390 million hits and more for the video he released for the song in July 2015. It has received praise from heavyweights like Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller.

In the time since White Iverson’s unprecedented success, Post has signed a record deal with Republic Records, home of heavyweights like Drake and Nicki Minaj. He has worked with famous names such as 50 Cent, Young Thug, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, 21 Savage, and Quavo. Post Malone also performed at Kylie Jenner’s 18th birthday party and opened Justin Bieber’s Purpose world tour.

His debut album Stoney achieved double platinum status, as certified by the RIAA, barely a year after its release. It peaked at number 6 on the Billboard 200 and sold 58,000 copies in its first week. This was largely due to his song Congratulations, in which he introduced Quavo, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 at #8. Post announced his next album Beerbongs and Bentleys and released his first single. It was called Rockstar and featured him with 21 Savage. The song went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained there for eight consecutive weeks. A month later he released a video for the song.

The music style of Post was described as a melting pot of R&B, country, hip-hop, and grunge. This ambiguity led XXL magazine (the world’s most popular hip-hop publication) to exclude him from the “2016 Freshmen Class” list. After this exclusion, he told Fader magazine in an interview that he would be making country music when he was 40. However, he assured me that he was a lover of all music genres and would continue to make hip-hop in the future.

Post Malone made his national TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live in June 2016. He also appeared on several other TV shows, including Late Night With Seth Meyers and XXX: The Return Of Xander Cage, where he wrote and played the role of “Burning Man.
