Although there is little information about his early upbringing, the actor began acting in the sixth grade due to an injury that prevented him from playing baseball. His efforts earned him a Tommy Tune Award, which is usually given to high schools in the Houston area and their students. His starring role in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum earned him the award in 2003.
