Mary Frances Reynolds was born on April 1, 1932, in Texas, USA. In 1939, the Reynolds family moved from El Paso to Burbank, California, where Debbie, as she is known professionally, began her high school education at the age of 16. The yet-to-be-blooming media star grew up in a poor but steadfast Christian home.
Debbie’s family is of Scottish-Irish and English descent. Her father was Raymond Francis Reynolds, a carpenter for the Southern Pacific Railroad, her mother Maxine worked in the laundry to make ends meet. Debbie has an older brother, William Reynolds.

Debbie says that despite the betrayal, she still respected him and was grateful for the gift of her children – Carrie and Tom Fisher. Eddie Fisher died in 2010 at the age of 82 after four other failed marriages.
