When he entered the 2018/19 season of the National Basketball Association (NBA), Grayson Allen was one of the young lads in the league who attracted a lot of people to the court to see how impressive he would be on the court. Grayson Allen, who is ranked 21st in the 2018 NBA Draft, has everything it takes to be the best in the league in his own time.
The young player had an impressive high school career and did even better in college. His stumbling blocks earned him nationwide publicity, albeit for the wrong reasons, but the lad got it over with just in time to storm into the NBA as one of the rising shooting guards to watch out for. Since his career is still in its infancy, much about him is probably not yet known, but here we will take you through his past and let you know where he stands at the moment.
Grayson Allen Bio
Sherry and William Allen gave birth to Grayson Allen on October 8, 1995, in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended Providence School in Jacksonville, Florida, where he quickly switched to basketball and began playing skillfully on his school team.
Grayson won a state championship with his teammates in 2013, was selected as McDonald’s All-American in 2014 in addition to winning the slam-dunk competition. In high school, he was named MaxPreps’ fifth All-American team in addition to many other commendable achievements in high school.
After graduating, Grayson Allen enrolled at Duke University, where he studied and played basketball from 2014 to 2018. In the four seasons Grayson played college basketball, he scored a total of 0.430 field goal percentages, 3-point field goal percentages of 0.380, 0.834 free-throw percentages with an assist per game of 3.0, 1.0 steals per game, and 3.2 rebounds per game. This was out of all 142 games he played and 97 of which he started, recording 27.9 minutes per game.
The talented Shooting Guard, with a passion for scoring points on the court, received many awards for his skill and earned recognition as he progressed through college. Of particular note is that Grayson Allen and his teammates became NCAA Champions in Duke 2015. In 2016 he was named to the first-team All-ACC, in 2016 to the second team All-American – SN and in 2018 also to the third team All-ACC.
Although his college career was impressive, Grayson smudged a little of it with some stumbling blocks that happened at different times. In February 2016, he tripped Ray Spalding from Louisville, yelled at a referee, and stumbled on Xavier Rathan-Mayes from Florida State University. Steven Santa from Elon University became his next victim, whereupon he was suspended from his basketball team and then removed from the captain of the team. Upon his return to the team, Garrison Brooks of North Carolina became his last victim, whereupon he entered the NBA on June 21, 2018, as Utah Jazz’s 21st overall candidate.
Since Grayson Allen has found his way into the NBA, it is expected that he will become one of the most impressive shooting guards in the league if all goes well for him.
Family – Parents
He is the only biological child of his parents Sherry – a personnel officer, and William Allen – a government contractor, but we know he had as a friend and brother Tonan Ferrell, whose mother gave him up for adoption when he was just 8 years old. Tonan and Grayson were best friends in school, and when Grayson’s parents learned of the plight Tonan was going through, they thought it best to be family to their son’s best friend. This friendship between the two boys continues to this day, as can be seen from Tonan’s contributions to social media, which show pictures of himself and his adoptive parents in his adopted brother’s (Grayson) games.
The Duke’s child prodigy has acquired a Belle under the name of Bailey Bunnell. The two have been together since 2013, and during this time she was in a long-distance relationship with Grayson since she was at the University of South Carolina. However, they met while still in high school and have maintained their relationship from then until today. Maybe Grayson could lead her to the altar in the near future.
