Solomon Hill is a two-time winner of the first team of NABC All-District 20 and has received several other awards and honors during his college career at the University of Arizona. These other awards include the Sapphire Award (presented annually to the State (Arizona) Male Athlete of the Year), the USBWA All-District IX First Team, and the All-Pac-12 First Team.

The little striker, who currently plays for the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA, began his professional career with the Indiana Pacers, who selected him as the 23rd overall candidate in the 2013 NBA Draft. Here is everything else you need to know about him.

Who Is Solomon Hill? – His Bio

Hill was born in Harvey, Illinois, on March 18, 1991, the son of Solomon Crawford and LaVerne Hill, under the birth name Solomon Jamar Hill. He attended high school in Los Angeles, California, at Fairfax High School, where he fell in love with basketball and decided to look at it not only as a leisure activity but to make a career out of it.

During his junior season, he averaged 8.7 rebounds and 10.7 points per game, and as a senior, he averaged 11.7 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 16.2 points per game. At the end of his high school career, Solomon was twice named to the Los Angeles All-City Selection and was the All-State Team’s third choice in 2009. Rivals.com considered him a 4-star recruit and ranked him as both the #3 smallest forward and the #27 in the nation.

After high school, he attended the University of Arizona, where he played college basketball for the Wildcats. As a freshman, he played a total of thirty-one games, starting twenty-one and averaging 4.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 6.7 points per game. As a sophomore, he had the privilege of being one of three players who started each game.

Solomon Hill was appointed to the All-Tournament Team of iBN Sports Las Vegas Invitational. He played 4 games in this tournament and averaged 4.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 11.0 points. After playing a total of thirty-eight games, all of which he started, averaging 4.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 8.0 points, he was named Arizona’s best player for the 2010-11 season by Sean Miller (head coach).

As a junior, Hill played thirty-five games (all started) and averaged 7.7 rebounds, 1.0 steals, 2.6 assists, and 12.9 points per game. He won the Sapphire Award (which is awarded annually to the State (Arizona) Male Athlete of the Year), brought USBWA the first team from the entire District IX and the first team from All-Pac-12.

He received a number of other awards and honors as a senior, including the 2012 Diamond Head Classic MVP.

NBA/Professional Career

The Indiana Pacers selected Solomon Hill as their 23rd overall candidate for the 2013 NBA Draft, signed his contract with the team on the rookie scale, and immediately joined them for the summer league. In December, he was sent to Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA G League and was called back the following month.

By the end of his rookie season, Solomon had played twenty-eight games and averaged 1.5 rebounds and 1.7 points per game. He missed the summer league the following year (2014) due to an ankle injury he sustained in the off-season. In October of the same year, the Pacers took advantage of the third-year team option on the Solomon Hill contract to extend his stay until the end of the next season (2015-16).

Hill began serving as the Pacers’ Assisting Small Forward after Paul George sustained an injury that took him off the field for most of the season. By the end of the season, Hill had started seventy-eight games and averaged 2.2 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 8.9 points per game.

Solomon would stay with the Pacers until July 2016, when he signed a new contract with the New Orleans Pelicans, where he currently plays. In August 2017, he had surgery to repair a torn hamstring. His first game after the surgery was against the Boston Celtics in March 2018, where he played only 8 minutes and ended up with only one assist.

The little striker of the New Orleans Pelicans, who sometimes also acts as a shooting guard, stands at a height of 2.01 m (6’6″) and weighs 225 pounds (102 kg).

Hill is not married but has a girlfriend named Ashli. He also has a daughter, it is not sure if he had the child with his girlfriend Ashli or with another woman.
