He looked to be fine at first but eventually collapsed to his knees. After the competition was halted and medical aid was summoned, he appeared to make a full recovery.
The only reminder of what had occurred just hours before was the bandage on Bruce’s skull as he and his Tika tribe went about their daily activities on Day 1.
However, on Survivor, a lot can change in hours, as Bruce was about to learn. He was tired and had a terrible headache that night.
To get him to a hospital without risking anything serious, the doctors determined that he needed to be removed from the competition after another checkup. Bruce was devastated because his objective had been taken from him without his knowledge. And Jeff Probst kept feeling that way.
After making a complete recovery, Bruce was given a second chance at the game when Probst revealed on the first episode of his new podcast that he had an open invitation to return in the future.

When Perreault hit his head against one of the beams, he cut his forehead severely. He collapsed to the ground after the challenge, prompting a concerned competitor to ask, “Are you OK?”
“Everyone, come to a stop!” Medical! The host, Jeff Probst, yelled, “Medical hurry in,” as the opposing squad stopped working. The contestant told the medical staff that he felt “lightheaded” as they rushed over to Perreault, who was still lying on his knees on the beach.
Perreault returned to work on Survivor after getting oxygen and bandaging his bleeding wound. Later that evening, however, Perreault started to feel ill, and medical assistance was once again requested.
They checked him after he complained that his head was “killing me,” and they advised him to leave the game show. Bruce was the first to depart for home on the first day of the show, which was highlighted in the two-hour premiere, but two others needed medical attention on the second day.
