Paul was born in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, his original name is Paul Alexander Casey. He was born on July 21, 1977, but he grew up in Weybridge, Surrey, in West London, where he moved with his parents. Paul received his earliest education first at Cleves School in Weybridge and then at Hampton School in West London before moving to Strode’s College in Egham, Surrey, for his A-Levels. He later received a golf scholarship at Arizona State University.

Casey began his career as an amateur golfer and never failed to stand out from his fellow players. He showed an extraordinary playing record when he won the Pac-12 Championship in the USA three times in a row (1998, 1999, and 2000). After his success in the 2000 championship, he even turned pro. This was inevitable considering that he broke records set by the American professional golfer Eldrick Tont Woods, better known as Tiger Woods. Since then, Paul has participated in two remarkable professional golf tours around the world, the PGA Tour in the USA and the European Tour.
In May 2001, Casey joined the European Tour, where he finished second in his fifth event and won a major victory at the Scottish PGA Championship in Gleneagles.
