Noah Vonleh is a plausible explanation for why some people think basketball is a game where insanely tall guys run after a ball and throw it everywhere just to make some cool dough. Even though Noah isn’t the biggest b-baller in the NBA league, the power forward has always had people asking, “Who the hell is this guy? Well, let’s find out more about him.
Who Is Noah Vonleh?
At the time of writing this article, this guy plays professional basketball for the New York Knicks of the NBA. Noah’s basketball career began in 2011 at the New Hampton School in New Hampton, New Hampshire, shortly after his transfer from Haverhill High School in Haverhill, Massachusetts. He started playing as a junior and averaged 16 points and 9 rebounds in each game. As a senior, his score increased to 17, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists in each game. This is how he was awarded the McDonald’s All-American honors.
Noah declined offers to play for North Carolina, Kansas, Ohio State, and the University of California, Los Angeles. He decided to play for Indiana University and committed himself to the team in November 2012. In his first season with the Hoosiers, he averaged 1.4 blocks, 9.0 rebounds, and 11.3 points in 30 games. No wonder he was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year and Third Team All-Big Ten in the singles season.
After his freshman campaign, the basketball player decided to leave college and therefore declared his interest in the NBA draft in April 2014. He was selected by the Charlotte Hornets as the 9th overall candidate in the first round and then signed with the team in July. But then Noah could not immediately prove himself, as he underwent surgery that kept him off the field for about two months. When he was fit to play again, he had his tour of duty with the NBA Development League’s Fort Wayne Mad Ants, but returned three days later to play for the Hornets before finally switching to the Portland Trail Blazers in June 2015.
Interestingly, his first game against the Hornets was on November 15, 2015. Within 24 minutes of the game, he scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. After Jusuf Nurkic joined the team in February 2017, Noah’s performance with the team improved significantly. In 2018 he moved to the Chicago Bulls, after being traded in February 2018 for the draft rights to Serbian player Milovan Rakovic. But as fate would have it, his stay with the Bulls would not last as long as his time with the Blazers. In July of the same year, he signed a pact with the New York Knicks, details of the contract were not disclosed.
