The television personality was named Marie Elizabeth Harf by her parents – Jane Ax Harf and James E. Harf, who are from St. Louis, Missouri. Her date of birth was June 15, 1981.

As far as we know, Marie’s father works with the Center for Global Education at Maryville University. He is also a professor of political science at Ohio State University, Columbus. It is said that her mother is a clean energy enthusiast and is currently the director of the University Clean Energy Alliance of Ohio.

Education and Career

Although she was born in Chicago, Illinois, Marie most likely grew up in Granville, Ohio, as she was a student at Granville High School. After graduating in 1999, she transferred to Indiana University Bloomington. Marie Harf studied at the public research institution from 1999 to 2003 and graduated with honors, earning a bachelor’s degree in political science and government. She focused on Jewish, Russian, and Eastern European Studies. She also holds a master’s degree in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia.

Her first position was as a Lead Analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for the Middle East. This lasted from March 2006 to June 2008, when she became the CIA’s spokesperson for the media in Langley, Virginia. Harf’s next job came with the 2012 presidential election in the United States. She served Obama for America, a political organization based in Chicago, Illinois, as Associate Policy Director for National Security.

After Obama was re-elected for his second term, Marie joined the US State Department in Washington, DC, as its deputy spokesperson. She served in this capacity from June 2013 to June 2015 before becoming Senior Advisor for Strategic Communications under Secretary Kerry. During this time she undertook various diplomatic trips overseas with Secretary Kerry, visiting 5 continents and more than 30 countries.

In January 2017, she left the State Department, and in September of the same year, she began her work as a Fellow at the Institute of Politics and Public Service at Georgetown University, Washington DC. This lasted only 4 months.

In January 2017 Marie Harf began working as a staffer for Fox News. Sometime in May 2018, she became co-host of a show (Benson & Harf) alongside Guy Benson. However, the last Benson & Harf show was then broadcast in May 2019.

In addition, Marie has been Managing Director of Serve America PAC since September 2019. Between June and September of the same year, she served Seth Moulton for America; first as Deputy Campaign Manager for Communications and Politics and then as Campaign Manager. That’s not all, Marie Harf was once a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania. She is reported to have co-taught a course at the private Ivy League University between January and May 2019.

Marie Harf married Joshua Paul Lucas in 2012 at a Presbyterian church in Vienna. As the New York Times reported, Father Erin E. Bair, an Anglican priest who happens to be a long-time friend of the couple.

When they became life partners, it was reported that Joshua was just finishing his master’s degree in law and diplomacy at Tufts University. A graduate of Yale, Joshua is the son of Tricia H. Lucas and John E. Lucas. They come from Manchester, a city located along the Merrimack River in southern New Hampshire.
