Stella Stevens Bio

Stella Stevens was born on 1 October 1938 as Estelle Caro Eggleston in Yazoo City, Mississippi, USA. She was the only child of her parents, Thomas Ellett Eggleston, an insurance salesman, and Dovey Estelle Caro, a nurse. Stella spent most of her childhood in Memphis, Tennessee, where her parents had moved when she was 4 years old.

She graduated from Memphis Tech High School in 1955 and then went on to study medicine at Memphis State College, hoping to follow in her mother’s footsteps. While studying, Stevens fell in love with acting and tried to pursue it full-time. In the late 50’s she started acting professionally. Within one year Stevens had asserted her influence in the film industry. Thanks to her performance in Say One for Me (1959), and her film debut, she got the Golden Globe Award for the new star of the year.

Stella Stevens quickly took up modeling in her repertoire. For the rest of the 1960s, she was impressed with roles in Girls! Girls! Girls! Girls!, The Nutty Professor and The Courtship of Eddie’s Father. Stevens worked regularly in her career until the 1990s. From the new millennium on, she became occasionally active. Stella Stevens directed and produced several works, including The American Heroine and The Ranch.

Family – Partner, Son

Stevens’ marriage to a noble Herman Stephens, whom she met as a teenager when her family moved to Tennessee, is the only marriage she has ever lived in. Stella married Herman, who was an electrician when she was just 15 years old. At 16 she gave birth to her only son Herman Andrew Stevens, better known as Andrew Stevens.

Stella’s marriage to Herman lasted only a few years since they divorced when she was 17 years old. At the time of her divorce, Stella was serious about pursuing a professional acting career, so she kept a modified version of her husband’s name and changed it from Stephens to Stevens.

Her son Andrew, born on 10 June 1955, was to follow in Stella’s footsteps and become an actor, film producer, and director in the entertainment industry. His acting career reached its peak from the 1970s until the 1980s, a period in which he was active in both film and television. He is known for such projects as Massacre at Central High (1976), Vigilante Force (1976), The Fury (1978), and The Boys in Company C (1978), for which he received a Golden Globe nomination.

From the 1990s Andrew became active behind the scenes as a writer, director, and producer. He founded the now-defunct Franchise Pictures, which produced a series of films for Warner Bros. Andrew continues to make films under Andrew Stevens Entertainment and the Stevens Entertainment Group. Andrew and his mother have worked together on several projects.

Stella’s son was married three times. His first marriage to actress Kate Jackson lasted from 1978 to 1982, and then in 1995, he married Robyn Suzanne Scott. Their marriage produced Andrew’s only three children and Stella’s only three grandchildren – Samuel Andrew Stevens, Amelia Grace Stevens, and Aubrey Estelle Stevens. Andrew and Robyn were divorced in 2010. He entered into marriage with Diana Phillips Hoogland in 2016, and two years later, in 2018, they were divorced.

The only other man Stella Stevens has been associated with is a guitarist and Grammy-award-winning record producer Bob Kulick. They began a long-term relationship in 1983 and were confirmed in 1990 that they were still together, at a time when they were living together in Stevens’ Beverly Hills residence. Not much has been heard about them since then, and it remains unclear if they are still together.

Is Stella Stevens Dead?

NOPE! As far as we know, Stella Stevens is very much alive. The world likes to speculate about the death of a star when they haven’t been active for a long time, but Stella Stevens would not pass without immediate notification to the media.
