The Real Housewives actress and her fiancé Slade Smiley have long been going through a difficult time: Grayson – Slade’s son from a previous relationship – was battling cancer for a long time. Now the family has to say goodbye: stepmother Gretchen announced that Grayson passed away at the age of just 22.
Gretchen now expressed her great sadness on her Instagram profile. “Our minds told us that that day could come, but our hearts always held onto the hope that that day would not come,” she said, adding, “We are deeply shocked and saddened by the loss of Gray. Grayson Arroyo-Smiley was such a special person.”
Gretchen also paid tribute to her stepson and gushed about his take on life. “He was an angel on this earth and an incredible fighter – a fighter like no one has ever seen. He fought his pain and discomfort every day to find joy in the little things. He always sang, danced, and laughed despite his living conditions,” the TV personality wrote.
