Paloma Faith, is an English singer, songwriter, dancer, and actress who became famous in 2009 after the release of her debut album Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful? The album was awarded double platinum in the UK.

Paloma Faith was born in Hackney, London on 21 July 1981 as Paloma Faith Blomfield, the daughter of an English mother and a Spanish father.
Her parents divorced when she was four years old. For this reason, she was raised only by her mother, who moved to Stoke Newington, London. As a child, her interest in dancing grew and she was encouraged by her mother to take ballet lessons every week.
After graduating from City and Islington College, Faith took her love of dance to a whole new level when she obtained a BA degree in Contemporary Dance from the University of Leeds. During her studies, Faith worked as a hip-hop dancer in some nightclubs to refine her craft.
After her BA, she took an MA in Theatre Directing and Acting at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. During this time Faith had to work not only to refine her craft but also to finance her studies. She worked in various part-time jobs, including as a magic assistant, bartender and sales assistant at Agent Provocateur.
Once, when she was working as a bartender in a pub, she was approached by the manager as lead singer for his band. The band was called “Paloma and the Penetrators”. She was very good at imitating famous soul and jazz singers like Etta James and Billie Holiday, whom she cites as her influences.
It was during one of her many gigs with the band that she started meeting different leaders and managers of the music industry, which led to her big breakthrough. In the meantime, she had turned down the opportunity to join Amy Winehouse’s band.
Jamie Binns and Christian Wahlberg from Lateral Management watched her perform once and immediately became addicted to her. They became her managers in 2007 and helped her to a duet with singer Josh Weller called “It’s Christmas (And I Hate You)”. This earned her enough recognition to release her first solo single, Stone Cold Sober, which reached number 17 in the British single charts. Her second single, New York, reached number 15 in the same charts.
Faith had begun her acting career before her music debut with a role in the 2007 film: St Trinian’s. She also appeared in an episode of the BBC police drama HolbyBlue and was cast in the 2009 film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
