Melissa Reeves is an actress who has adorned our screens for more than three decades with her undeniable talent and acting skills. She has been active since the early ’80s, and although her resume is not exactly swamped with acting credits, she has managed to make us stick to our screens and always wants more when she performs. She has appeared in several films and television shows but is best known for inventing the role of Jennifer Horton, which she has been playing in the NBC series Days of Our Lives since 1985. Melissa Reeves – Biography

She was born on March 14, 1967, in Eatontown, New Jersey, and was given the name Melissa Brennan. Apart from her birth name, she is also known by the following nicknames: Missy Brennan, Melissa B. Reeves, Melissa Brennan Reeves, or Missy Reeves. Melissa has American citizenship but has not revealed her ethnicity. She is one of two children along with her brother David, born of Lawrence Brennan, a radio station, and his wife Marion Brennan. The actress Elizabeth Percy is her cousin.

As she grew up, she nurtured the dream of becoming a professional dancer, but fate seemed to have chosen a different path in the entertainment industry. Reeves graduated from high school in Los Angeles. She studied dance with Phil Black in New York City before going to the Lee Strasberg Institute in Manhattan.

She showed her first acting performance in 1983 in the film Somewhere, Tomorrow, in which she played the role of Georgina. The following year she received her first television acting role as Jade Perkins in the soap opera Santa Barbara. She led the role until 1985 and was nominated twice (1985, 1986) for the Young Artist Award for the best young actress in a day or night television series.

Subsequently, she landed a spot in the popular NBC daytime soap “Days of Our Lives” in 1985. She played the role of the adult Jennifer Horton until 1995. Melissa Reeves gave expression to the TV character, but also played the lead role in the 1987 film Summer Camp Nightmare as Heather and repeated her role in Days of Our Lives in the television films Days of our Lives: A Stormy Night (1992), Days of our Lives: Night Sins (1993) and Days of our Lives: Winter Heat (1994). In addition, she had a guest role in the mystery anthology series The Hitchhiker’s Guide as Denise O’Mell in the role of Denise O’Mell in 1987.

In 1999, she played Becki Dilley at her husband Scott’s side as Becki Dilley in another television film Half a Dozen Babies. After she left Days, she was replaced by Stephanie Cameron, who played the role until 1998. Melissa was rehired by the show’s producers at the turn of the century, in 2000. Her second engagement lasted until 2006 when she confirmed that she would leave the show.

Melissa Reeves returned to Days of Our Lives on June 9, 2010, and continued to play the role of Jennifer Horton.

In addition to the two nominations for the Young Artist Awards for Santa Barbara, she also received two more and in 1992 a Daytime Emmy Award for an outstanding young actress in a drama series for days. The soap opera stars have two children in common: a daughter named Emily Taylor Reeves (born June 23, 1992) and a son, Lawrence “Larry” David Reeves (born August 4, 1997). Controversy

Her first departure from Days was described as abrupt. She was subsequently sued by Corday Productions and Sony TV Entertainment for breach of contract. The matter was settled out of court, however, and she paid an unspecified amount of money, donated by the show’s executive producer, Ken Corday, for pediatric AIDS research.
