Jason Derulo is not only a fantastic singer and dancer but also an avid songwriter, who is said to have written songs for famous artists like Danity, Birdman, Diddy, Sean Kingston, Lil Wayne, Donnie Klang, and Cassie.
In 2009 he started his solo career with his double-platinum hit “Whatcha Say”, which samples the Imogen heap song “Hide and Seek”. Since then, he has recorded a total of eleven platinum singles, including Talk Dirty, Wiggie, In My Head, and sold over 30 million copies.

Jason Derulo – Age
Jason’s full name is Jason Joel Desrouleaux and he was born on September 21, 1989, in Miramar, Florida, from Haitian parents. Derulo is the youngest of his parents’ three children.
He showed so much interest in music from an early age and his parents gave him all the love and support he needed by enrolling him in a performing arts school. He also began to develop his songwriting skills at a very early age.
Career
Jason Derulo is said to have written his first song at the age of eight. He became so good at writing songs that even as a teenager he attracted some well-known singers like Birdman, for whom he wrote the song “Bossy”, and he also performed as a guest on the song, demonstrating his vocal skills.
Apart from Birdman, he has also written songs for people like Sean Kingston, Lil Wayne, Danity Kane, Donnie Klang, Cassie, and Diddy. After attending the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and showcasing his artistic talents through singing and dancing as well as acting in theater productions such as Ragtime and Smokey Joe’s Cafe, Jason thought it wise to start his own solo career.
In 2006, he won the top prize on the TV show Showtime at the Apollo and was also discovered by music producer J.R. Rotem, who subsequently signed him to his record label Beluga Heights Records and Warner Bros. Records.
In 2009 he released his debut single entitled “Whatcha Say”, the song that was a sample of Imogen Heap’s song “Hide and Seek”, was listed at number 54 on the Billboard Hot 100 at the end of August and reached number 1 in both the US and New Zealand in November. The single also sold over five million digital downloads and was triple platinum awarded by the RIAA.
Derulo had such a huge success with his first single and began work on his debut album. In December 2009 he released a single from the album “In My Head”, which in the few weeks following its release reached number 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 and later peaked at number 5. His debut album was finally released in March 2010.
In 2012, Jason came to the American singing competition show American Idol to ask fans to help him finish the lyrics for a new song called “Undefeated”, which was part of a partnership with American Idol and Coca-Cola. To this end, fans were given the opportunity to submit their own lyrics and vote on which lyrics they liked best.
In the same year, he performed as dance master alongside Kelly Rowland in the first season of the Australian dance talent show Everybody Dance Now. In 2013 he released another single called The Other Side, and this was followed by his third album Tattoos.
In 2015, he became a judge in the 12th season of the TV dance show So You Think You Can Dance Show alongside Paula Abdul and Nigel Lythgoe. Later that year, he released a single entitled “Want to Want Me” from his fourth studio album Everything Is 4. In July 2016, he released his greatest hits album “Platinum Hits” with 11 platinum singles, including “Kiss the Sky”.
In 2017 he released another single “Swalla” with Ty Dolla $ign and Nicki Minaj. He also revealed that his fifth studio album, 777, would be released soon. Jason says that Michael Jackson inspired him and that his musical influences are Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Usher, Prince, and Elvis Presley.
Is He Married? Wife, Girlfriend, Parents
Derulo was never married. However, he was with the singer Jordin Sparks for three years before they stopped in 2014. Sparks has lived her life ever since she married her boyfriend Dana Ishia, and in May 2018 a son, Dana Isaiah Thomas Jr.
According to Sparks, Jason had a relationship with the mother of one Daphne Joy, whom he allegedly met in the UK in 2015, but after seven months the two separated. He also reportedly met with Carmen Ortega, who is five years older than him.
The established singer/songwriter is currently in a relationship with a mysterious girl whose identity he is not yet willing to reveal.
Although born in Miramar, Florida, Jason’s parents – Joel and Jocelyne Desrouleaux – are of Haitian descent. There is no detailed information about them online.

Is Jason Derulo Gay?
The pop/R&B star is not gay and not homophobic either. In 2015 the British girl group Little Mix released a new single called “Secret Love Song”, which they performed live with Jason at the Jingle Bell Ball in December.
Word also got around that the video could show different types of couples, including same-sex couples. When the video was finally canceled in early 2016, fans were disappointed that the video did not show a couple at all, but rather Perrie, Jade, Leigh-Anne, Jesy, who sang in the intercut, and Jason Derulo, who danced passionately in a room.
Then there was a rumor that Jason had refused to appear in the video when LGBT couples were in the video. Mixers came to expose such speculation, as did Derulo, who said he had nothing but love for the LGBT community.
