Austin Butler (31) couldn’t be better off professionally. For his role as Elvis Presley (✝42) he was nominated for an Oscar in the category “Best Actor”. For the shooting of the acclaimed film, he had specially trained the husky voice of the music legend. Even today, the hottie still sounds like a famous singer. But his voice change has serious consequences – Austin’s vocal cords are damaged!

In an interview on The Graham Norton Show, the 31-year-old spoke about his successful role. The fact that the actor still had a similar voice to Elvis two years after the end of filming was also mentioned: “I probably injured my vocal cords from singing a lot. A song needed 40 takes,” he openly admitted. But forever sounding like the king of rock ‘n’ roll? Austin doesn’t seem to want that either: “I’m in the process of getting rid of the accent,” he explained to the host.

In recent months, the American has received a lot of praise for his work on the film. The star was also able to take home a number of awards for it. A Golden Globe Award and a People’s Choice Award are already on the actor’s trophy shelf. March 12 will show whether an Oscar can soon be added.
