The football world mourns! Sports star Christian Atsu (31) started his football career at FC Porto but made his big break at Chelsea FC when he signed with the English club in 2013. He also played for the national team of Ghana, his home country, as part of the 2014 World Cup, winning a number of awards as a professional athlete. But now Christian has died as a result of the terrible earthquake in Turkey!
As reported by The Sun, the kicker last lived in the Turkish city of Kahramanmaraş. The city was also affected by the tragic earthquake. Christian had been reported missing for twelve days – now the 31-year-old has been found dead in the rubble of his home. It is said that Atsu fell from the ninth floor of the building when it collapsed. A quick transport to the hospital after he recovered was too late.
“His mobile phone and other belongings were also recovered from under all the rubble,” reporters at the scene said. It was previously reported that the kicker had recovered alive and well after the collapse of the residential building. The winger from Ghana was married and a father of two.
