We all watched as Dak Prescott easily outplayed Tom Brady during that Wild Card game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Dallas Cowboys. Sure enough, we had no idea that Tom Brady was playing the last NFL game of his illustrious career.
The way he lost was totally unexpected as he probably had the most forgettable performance of his life. There’s video evidence of Tom Brady trying to get into his teammates’ heads as they lost to the Cowboys but something was wrong that day. In hindsight, his opponent also played a spectacular game and that begs the question. Are Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys to blame for Tom Brady’s second retirement announcement?
How did Dak Prescott and the Cowboys do that?
The evidence shows that this could very well be the case the Buccaneers would have continued to play the San Francisco 49ers had they not lost. Dak’s numbers that night were definitely not expected of him. He finished the game with 25 of 33 completions for 305 yards and four touchdowns. In any NFL game that’s an impressive stat line from any quarterback.
Also, Prescott ran for 24 yards and another touchdown he completed by himself. Prior to that Monday Night Football game Dak had appeared in four playoff games prior to that and completed only 61% of his passes for 1048 yards with six touchdowns and three interceptions.
The reality is much different than critics think it was. Dak Prescott and the Cowboys had a great night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But this happened only because Tom Brady hadn’t been himself all season. Between his personal life and the team’s poor results it all came together to form a perfect storm against them.
Prescott was lucky not to be playing against the greatest of all time that night. During that Monday Night Football game Dak Prescott faced off against a human Tom Brady and obviously won. But blaming him and the Cowboys for the loss of Brady and the Bucs can be considered wishful thinking. Dallas was still eliminated by San Francisco in the next game.
