The 40-year-old revealed to Elle that her marriage had been in trouble for a few months – she had hit rock bottom during the Covid 19 pandemic: Instead of going into quarantine with his family, Armie traveled to California to join a friend to help restore a motel. “He was the last one,” Elizabeth fumed in the interview, adding, “My heart was broken into nine million pieces and I still drove him to the airport.” Ultimately, the two had drifted too far apart for their relationship to work.
Armie himself described this period as a “very complicated, intense situation with big personalities all cooped up in one tiny place”. The 36-year-old also compared himself to a wolf who “is caught in a snare” and “wants to bite off his own foot.”
