Harvey Weinstein (70) gets even more years in prison! In his first criminal trial in New York in 2020 the former film producer was sentenced to 23 years in prison. The guilty verdict related to multiple sexual assaults. Last December he was separately convicted in Los Angeles on three counts of rape and sexual assault. On Thursday the court decided: Harvey has to be behind bars for an additional 16 years!

The sentencing came Thursday after the court denied Harvey’s request for a retrial. The ex-film producer was sentenced to a further 16 years in prison in Los Angeles on three counts of rape and sexual assault. In a statement before the announcement of his latest verdict, he continued to protest his innocence according to JustJared: “It’s about money and about chasing me” the 70-year-old claimed. He asked the jury and the court not to sentence him to life imprisonment. “I don’t deserve it… there are so many things wrong with this case” he said.

His team had already appealed his guilty verdict in New York. A lawyer for Harvey told Page Six “The day I met Harvey in 2019 he said to me ‘I’m innocent.'” The appeal alleges that “a relentless barrage of publicity vocal pressure groups and a morally Outraged public before and during Weinstein’s trial created a fairground atmosphere that deprived him of the judicial composure and calm he deserved.”
