Dog The Bounty Hunter Biography
Born on February 2, 1953, under the birth name Duane Lee Chapman, he spent his childhood days in Denver, Colorado, United States. During his early adulthood, he was charged with murder because his boyfriend made the mistake of shooting someone in an argument while he was buying cannabis in his presence. This gave Dog a 5-year prison sentence, although he only spent 18 months in the Texas State Penitentiary, Huntsville, whereupon he was released for good behavior. His decision to pursue a career as a bounty hunter was inspired during his time in prison when he caught a fellow inmate trying to escape, for which he was congratulated and praised as a skilled bounty hunter.
It was the arrest of convicted criminal Andrew Luster in 2003 that brought The Bounty Hunter into the limelight and made him the subject of the A&E series; Dog The Bounty Hunter, from whom he got the name he is known for today. With the end of the reality series in 2012, he began another series called Dog and Beth: On the Hunt, which was broadcast in April 2013. This series documented Dog’s search for bond agencies in crisis, lecturing them on how to improve their businesses and helping them track down their notorious criminals alongside his sons and wife.
The dog is also a writer who has written two books titled “You Can Run But You Can’t Hide” (2007), an autobiography, and “Where Mercy Is Shown, Mercy Is Given” (2010). His autobiography was ranked number one on the New York Times bestseller list of books sold.

The famous bounty hunter was born of father Wesley Chapman and mother Barbara Chapman, who is of English and German descent. His mother was allegedly a minister in the Assemblies of God Church, who taught Christian values to her children. Hund is the first child to have two younger sisters and a younger brother.

Famous for his divorce proceedings, which began back in 1979, the bounty hunter has so far recorded four divorce cases. His first wife was LaFonda Sue Honeycut, the mother of two children named Duane Lee Chapman II and Leland Chapman, whom he married in 1972, but they separated in 1977 when he served his prison sentence for murder. When he got out of prison he married Anne M. Tegnell in 1979 but was divorced in 1982 after having three children named Wesley Chapman, Zebediah Duane Chapman (who died as an infant in 1980), and J.R. James Chapman. In the same year, he married Lyssa Rae Brittain, with whom he had two daughters named Barbara Katie Chapman and baby Lyssa Rae Chapman and a son named Tucker Dee Chapman. A divorce was recorded for the duo in 1991, shortly after he started dating Tawny Marie, but it turned out to be a disaster when Dog revealed what led to their separation in 1994, they were officially divorced in 2002.
After a series of failed relationships, Dog reunited with his long-time lover Alice Elizabeth Barmore, whom he affectionately called Beth and with whom he had been dating on and off since 1986. The couple finally tied the knot in May 2006 in Hawaii, United States, although it was a tragic day when his daughter Barbara Chapman died the day before in a fatal car accident. Dog and Beth have two children named Bonnie Chapman and Garry Chapman.
In 2017, the couple launched a series on A&E to show their viewers Beth’s fight against cancer, entitled Dog and Beth: Fight of Their Lives, which featured details of her doctor’s appointment and surgical procedures.
