He became one of the most renowned commentators on sports in America. Fowler’s career accomplishments are enviable, to say the least, from being a mainstay in coveted positions to participating in several Emmy-winning programs. Chris Fowler – Bio

Christopher Fowler is from Denver, Colorado, a city where he was born on August 23, 1962. His father Knox Fowler is an academic who taught drama as a professor at the State College Pennsylvania – a place where Chris spent part of his childhood. Chris Fowler also grew up in Rockford, Illinois, and Colorado Springs, where he attended General William J. Palmer High School, which he graduated from in 1980.

Immediately after high school, Chris Fowler enrolled at the University of Colorado, where he studied radio and television news and graduated in 1985. His interest in television began in high school and he became the first recipient of the Denver Press Club’s Alan Berg Memorial Journalism Scholarship Award. While he still had his degree ahead of him, Chris Fowler was busy doing a handful of jobs to gain practical experience in his chosen field of study.

After about a year in college, he began reporting on sports for the Denver daily Rocky Mountain News. At the same time, Chris Fowler produced and hosted a weekly magazine show that was broadcast on cable television in Boulder, Colorado. He also served as Director of Sports for his university’s KAIR-AM radio station.

With his rich student experience, Fowler had made it easy to get jobs after college. He did an internship at ABC subsidiary KMGH-TV and worked briefly with NBC subsidiary KCNC-TV in Denver. Barely a year after graduating from college, ESPN came knocking on his door. His first role with the sports giant was as a presenter/reporter for Scholastic Sports America, a position he held for two years from 1986 to 1988. After that, he was promoted to the secondary reporter of college football.
