Larry Kudlow, born Lawrence Alan Kudlow, is a renowned American economic commentator who was appointed a member of the government of President Donald Trump in 2018. The respected business leader also serves as director of the National Economic Council after being accepted as a member of the White House political elite.
Kudlow began his journey to fame at the New York Federal Reserve as a junior financial analyst. After his time in government, he was hired as a financial analyst for Wall Street-based financial firms Paine Webber and Bear Stearns.
He later joined the government of former U.S. President Ronald Reagan in 1981 as Deputy Director of Economics and Planning in the Office of Management and Budget. After a successful first term in Reagan’s administration, Larry left the company and returned to Wall Street and Bear Stearns to serve as the organization’s chief economist. He held this position from 1987 to 1994, after which he became a business media commentator for the National Review, a bi-monthly conservative U.S. editorial journal focused on commentary and news.
Larry Kudlow also worked at CNBC from 2001 to 2018 and was known to host several programs during his time with the company. He made a political comeback in 2018 after being named to succeed Gary Cohn on the National Economic Council.
Who Is Larry Kudlow?
He is the son of Irving Howard Kudlow and Ruth Kudlow, who named him Lawrence Alan Kudlow after he was born on August 20, 1947. Larry was born into a Jewish family in Englewood, New Jersey, U.S.A., and studied at the private Elisabeth Morrow School in Englewood until the 6th grade, before moving on to Dwight-Englewood School from the second half of middle school to high school.
After completing his high school education, the renowned analyst went to the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York, to study history. He graduated with a diploma in history in 1969. During his stay in Rochester, Larry was a member of the institution’s tennis team and an active member of the left-wing Students for a democratic society at the school.
Two years after leaving Rochester, Kudlow enrolled at the prestigious Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University for further education. He graduated with a major in politics and economics but eventually left the school before earning his master’s degree.
Kudlow had previously struggled with hard substances. His quest to cleanse himself led him into a twelve-step program in the mid-1990s. Shortly after overcoming his alcohol and cocaine addiction, he was converted to Catholicism under the tutelage of Father C. John McCloskey III and was to become a committed member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Larry has held several prestigious positions, including a member of the Kemp Institute’s Advisory Board at the prestigious Pepperdine University School of Public Policy, a member of the Advisory Board of the Ave Maria Mutual Fund, and a member of the Board of Trustees of Fordham University.
Throughout his life, the Englewood-born political bigwig has tied the knot three times. His first marriage was to Nancy Ellen Gerstein, a New York magazine contributor. The couple married in 1974 and later divorced after a year.
The political scientist found love again in the eyes of Susan (Cullman) Sicher, whom he married in 1981. A few years after the beginning of their marital relationship, the love boat of Susan and the renowned analyst hit the rocks, which led to the divorce.
Larry’s third wife is Judith “Judy” Pond, a Montana-born painter. The couple married in 1986 and have lived together peacefully ever since.
What Happened To His Health?
Ever since he broke into the larger mainstream as a member of President Trump’s administrative board, Kudlow has continued to delight audiences around the world with his great looks. However, on June 11, 2018, it was reported that the US President’s Chief Economic Advisor suffered what the White House called a “very mild” heart attack in June 11, 2018.
In a statement by White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, the Presidency said that Kudlow had already been taken to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. for treatment and that the Director of the National Economic Council was “doing well”.
Coincidentally, Kudlow’s mild heart attack occurred on the same day that his boss, Donald Trump, was scheduled for dialogue with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore for the much-anticipated U.S. summit with North Korea.
It is not yet known whether Larry has had any health problems in the past, despite the fact that the attack on 11 June was the first time his health was brought to the attention of the media and widely reported.
Where is He Now?
At the moment, the good news is that Larry Kudlow is in great condition following a mild heart attack. Of course, he is expected to start from where he stopped in Trump’s administration once he is strong enough to stand on his feet.
As of the time of writing, he is still at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, where he is being treated.
