Felix Chang Hong Grant, the third child of English actor Hugh Grant, was born on 29 December 2012. Grant’s ex-girlfriend gave birth to Felix at Portland Hospital in London.

The Daily Mail first reported this news. Felix is a Latin word meaning happy and Chang is a Chinese word meaning long-lived. Hong also means ‘happy surprise’ in that language.

Hugh Grant Didn’t Reveal About Felix For Months 

Grant apparently kept Felix’s birth a secret for some time. The Love Actually star hadn’t decided to reveal the news until the Daily Mail reached him with a congratulatory message.

Minutes after being persuaded by The Daily Mail to announce the news of Felix’s birth, Grant took to his Twitter to announce:

“In answer to some journos. Am thrilled my daughter now has a brother. Adore them both to an uncool degree. They have a fab mum.”

A few hours after the first tweet, Grant posted another, saying:

And to be crystal clear. I am the Daddy.

Felix apparently lives with his mother in her £1.2 million terraced house in Fulham, West London. The house was bought for Felix’s mother, Mrs. Hong, by his actor father.

Felix Chang Hong Grant Birth Had A Life Changing Effect On His Father Hugh Grant

Sometime after becoming the father of Felix and his siblings, Grant told Ellen DeGeneres that, although the birth of Felix came as something of a surprise to him, fatherhood had a positive impact on his life.

Hugh has also said that his view of marriage and children has changed since he became a father to his children, including Felix. Grant and his Chinese ex-girlfriend registered Felix’s birth at the Westminster registry office much later than was necessary.

His birth was registered on Valentine’s Day 2014.

Who Is Felix’s Mother? Her Relationship With Hugh Grant

Felix’s mother, Tinglan Hong, was born in Zhejiang Province in eastern China. She moved to the UK in 2003. Hong is known as Ting Ting among her family and also has a degree in hotel management from the University of Surrey. She previously worked as a receptionist in a Chinese restaurant.

Felix’s sister, Tabitha Saio Xi Hong Grant, was born 17 months before her brother. As mentioned above, his elder sister Tabitha Siao Xi came into the world in Hugh and Tinglan’s “short-lived affair”.
