Anthony Lynn is the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers and a man who is known to never give up his ambitions. Over the course of his career in the National Football League (NFL), he has gradually but relentlessly and steadily climbed the ladder of success in football. Lynn is also a husband and father. Anthony Lynn was born on December 21, 1968. He attended Celina High School in Texas and was the All-Southwest Conference Running Back for Texas Tech University, where he scored a total of 1,911 yards and 17 touchdowns on 481 carries. He played for the Texas Tech Red Raiders from 1988 to 1991 and left the team in 1992 as an undeveloped free agent. He played for the Denver Broncos in 1993 and for the San Francisco 49ers from 1997 to 1999. During his time with the Broncos, he won two Super Bowl rings. In 2000, he retired due to a neck stab injury that is common among athletes.
NFL Coaching Career
Anthony Lynn had followed in his father’s footsteps and played football. He played for the New York Giants as an unattached free player, and after retiring from professional football, he became an offensive assistant and coach of special teams at the Denver Broncos in 2000. In 2003, he was hired by the Jacksonville Jaguars as a running-back coach, a position he held for a year until he moved to another position before leaving the team in 2005 to join the Dallas Cowboys as a running-back coach.
In 2007 he joined Cleveland Browns as a running back coach, and on February 1, 2012, he was promoted to Assistant Head Coach/Running Back Coach of the New York Jets. Lynn had hoped to become head coach after Rex Ryan left the team, but after interviewing for the position he did not get the promotion he had hoped for.

He then left the New York Jets and moved to the Buffalo Bills as an assistant head coach. In September 2016 his role was doubled – he was appointed Offensive Coordinator/Assistant Head Coach. In his first game as offensive coordinator, he scored a 33-18 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
In December 2017, Anthony Lynn was appointed a temporary head coach of the team. He conducted a series of interviews with various teams for the 2015-2017 head coach position, including the Miami Dolphins, the New York Jets, and the San Francisco 49ers. In January 2017, however, he was named head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers and became the first African-American head coach the franchise has ever had since its inception.

Anthony Lynn was the first in his family to ever go to college, although he left college without a degree to pursue a career in football. After the Chargers hired him, Anthony Lynn enrolled in an online school and started taking courses. On May 12, 2018, he graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies. Anthony Lynn was married to Cynda Dawn Hiel but was later divorced. After his divorce, he remained single for a long time until he was remarried to Stacey Bell in Dallas, Texas in March 2011. Stacey Bell is a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and a minor in English. She worked with several media organizations, including Fox 8 News, before joining NBC 4 in New York. She has won two Emmy Awards for her time with Fox 8 News as a news anchor.
The couple met in 2008 and got engaged in 2010, and from then on their relationship had always been long-distance. The couple became closer when they both lived in New York. After they got married, Lynn moved to Los Angeles for his job and left his lovely wife behind in New York.
Anthony Lynn has two children from his previous marriage to Cynda Hiel. His son is Anthony R. Lynn Jr. and was born on October 24, 1989, and his daughter Danielle Lynn was born on December 31, 1993. Anthony Jr. holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts and Sciences from Penn State University.
