Kirby is an English actress, which makes her sudden rise in the world of Hollywood all the more impressive. The actress’s exact date of birth is unknown, but we do know that she landed on planet Earth between 1986 and 1987.

Vanessa was born into a wealthy family. An upper-middle-class family consisting of a former magazine editor as her mother and a urology specialist as her father. She grew up with actresses Vanessa Redgrave and Corin Redgrave as friends of the family, and this may well have inspired her to pursue acting as well.

For her education, Vanessa was a talented student and received several scholarships. She attended Lady Eleanor Holes School in Hampton and studied English at the University of Exeter. She was offered a place at LAMDA, London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, but declined when she was signed up with a talent agency. Typically as an English actress who began her career in England, she first started with theater roles after meeting David Thacker, who, when he recognized her talent, decided to cast in some of his theater productions.

She continued to perform in several theaters throughout England and won a number of awards for her performances, including the BIZA Rising Star Award. After several years of theatrical activity, Kirby made her first appearance on the big screen in The Hour, a BBC television production. This was followed by a starring role in Ridley’s Scott film adaptation of Labyrinth.

After several film and television productions, she returned to the theater and continued her outstanding performances on stage. Her return earned her another award at the WhatsOnStage Awards as the best-supporting actress.

Although Vanessa Kirby had gained fame in the English acting scene through her stage appearances, she was still far from establishing herself as an international star, despite several appearances in Hollywood movies. She received her internationally acclaimed role in 2015 when she was cast for the Netflix hit British Series, The Crown. Her performance in the series was hailed as exemplary and earned her the BAFTA title in the second season of the series.
