Timothy Heller is an American singer-songwriter who is professionally known only as Timothy. Before he began his solo career in 2017, Heller was a member of the indie-pop duo Dresses.

Heller was born on August 17, 1992, in Portland, Oregon. Since her youth, she has always been interested in music, and to make the most of her abilities, she was a member of her high school band and musicals.

In 2013, when Heller was just 21 years old, she and Jared Ryan Maldonado formed a band called Indie Pop Duo Dresses. The band released a studio album and two EPs. Sun Shy became one of their hit tracks, reaching over 13 million songs on Spotify alone, while other singles also reached over a million songs.

The singles became so popular that in 2013/2014 they became the opening act for some dates on Melanie Martinez’s Dollhouse tour. Her song “Catch” was also performed in the American series “Vampire Diaries”.

In 2016, however, the duo went separate ways to pursue their career as solo stars individually. In October 2017, Heller released their debut solo single entitled Sleep. The official video for the single was released four months later, on February 23, 2018.

In March 2018 Timothy announced through her Instagram page that she would be working with Hailey Wait.

1. She Suffered From Borderline Personality Disorder

Timothy Heller suffered from a mental disorder called Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) – this is a mental illness associated with symptoms such as pervasive mood instability, aversion to one’s own self-image, insecurity, and problems in interpersonal relationships. This disorder often also destabilizes a person, disrupts family and work life, and even upsets the individual’s sense of identity.

In an interview with Atwood, Heller spoke about her struggle with BPD during her time in the band Dresses. She said her experience with Dresses was much darker than you might imagine, referring to her struggle with mental illness and an extremely unsupportive team around her. She also talked about the fact that she was exposed to a lot of psychological abuse but had to stay because her voice was needed for the band. but when she couldn’t take it anymore, the paths had to part.

According to reports she felt better after leaving the band and started to focus on her mental well-being.

2. Accused Her Best Friend Melanie Martinez Of Rape

It became a series of unfolding dramas and battles in social media after Heller accused her once best friend Melanie Martinez of sexually abusing her in a long Twitter post on December 4, 2017.

She claimed that the voice candidate had repeatedly asked her for sex and that she had repeatedly refused until one night she started touching her against her will and finally overpowered her. She said Melanie had practiced oral sex on her and had also penetrated her with a sex toy without her consent.

However, Melanie Martinez did not deny that both had sex but denied the allegations that she had sexually abused her former boyfriend. According to her, Timothy never said no to what [they] decided to do together, so it was not assaulted.

Although some say it is pure speculation, after listening to Melanie’s latest song piggyback, you might as well agree with the “speculations”.

In the song released December 2017, Melanie accused Heller of “lying” for fame, addressing the rape claims in the following lines: “You’re lying your way to try and gain a piece of me…; “Now you’re trying to kill my name for some fame.”
