Savannah Dexter once revealed that her father kind of forgot about her when he started another family. However, he reportedly fought for custody of her before he started a new relationship. Explaining further, she said that the time she spent with him and his then-new wife was nevertheless the worst phase of her childhood.

Her stepmother, though initially a kind woman, later began to treat her coldly, the Floridian told Chad Armes TV.

As for her stepmother, the Swamp singer said she’s in favor of forgiveness if she asks for it in July 2021. The country music lover says the bad dynamic between her and her stepmother has carried over into every relationship she’s ever had.

She believes that this experience has also made her a great people person. She claims that even her high school years were not pleasant because of this. Dexter states that although she now tries not to use past experiences as an excuse, she says that she has rather grown out of this trauma.

When Chad Armes TV  asked her what kind of music inspired her to become a singer, Dexter replied,

I got an interest in country music from my father. I used to listen to them riding around his truck.

She added that her mom also helped introduce her to the biggest names in the music world such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, The Backstreet Boys, and N Sync. The brunette says she grew up in a really good musical environment.

In addition, Dexter says her huge musical influences are Christina Aguilera, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Carrie Underwood.

Savannah further stated that her fascination with old country music, such as Whalen and the Willies, and The Johnnies, didn’t become apparent to her until after her first marriage.

She Started Playing Instrument At 13

Savannah first tried guitar at the age of 13, but soon gave it up and picked it up again at the age of 18.

She said she learned 15 songs the first night she touched the guitar for the second time in her life. After that, she started writing songs herself.
