Savannah Dexter’s Parents Never Married: Her Date Of Birth And Early Details

Savannah Dexter was born in July 1996 in Florida. She later moved to Missouri, where she lived for a few years, and eventually moved back to Florida. Savannah’s parents were still in their teens when she was born to them.

Her parents never married. They were together for the first year of Savannah’s birth, then separated.

The hip-hop artist grew up mostly with her maternal grandparents, while her mother kind of went in and out of her life. It was probably because she was going to school while working nights.

Her father, on the other hand, had thrown himself into another relationship shortly after he and her mother split up. And her stepmother was her kindergarten teacher. Now 25 years old, Savannah has two half-sisters from her father’s second relationship.

Her younger half-sister has autism. The Big Trucks singer didn’t start living with her father until she was ten years old. The five-foot-seven-inch tall artist lived with her father and his new family from the age of 10 to 14.

As for her education, Dexter went to University High School in Orange City, Florida, where she played volleyball and was also involved in cheerleading.

Savannah Dexter Had A Rough Childhood Because Of Her Father’s New Wife

Savannah Dexter once revealed that her father kind of forgot about her when he started another family. However, he reportedly fought for custody of her before he started a new relationship. Explaining further, she said that the time she spent with him and his then-new wife was nevertheless the worst phase of her childhood.

Her stepmother, though initially a kind woman, later began to treat her coldly, the Floridian told Chad Armes TV.

She said it never bothered her that Savannah and her father had a relationship. Dexter further revealed that over time, her stepmother’s treatment of her worsened.

Savannah had previously said that at times her stepmother was aggressive and hostile toward her. She admitted that her father’s second wife always tried to make her life uncomfortable. She said that life with her father and his wife was not great at all.

Dexter admits that her father’s relationship with his new wife was never healthy. However, everything changed when she told her maternal grandparents how her stepmother was treating her. They then stopped her from going to her father’s house.

Savannah Didn’t Talk To Her Father For Years

After leaving her father for her grandparents, Savannah Dexter confirms that she didn’t see her father until the end of her sophomore year. Father and daughter did not properly meet until the latter’s graduation.

As for her stepmother, the Swamp singer said she’s in favor of forgiveness if she asks for it in July 2021. The country music lover says the bad dynamic between her and her stepmother has carried over into every relationship she’s ever had.

She believes that this experience has also made her a great people person. She claims that even her high school years were not pleasant because of this. Dexter states that although she now tries not to use past experiences as an excuse, she says that she has rather grown out of this trauma.

Savannah revealed that she was also a victim of sexual abuse. However, she did not say who her abuser was.

What Inspired Savannah Dexter To Pursue Music?  

When Chad Armes TV  asked her what kind of music inspired her to become a singer, Dexter replied,

I got an interest in country music from my father. I used to listen to them riding around his truck.

She added that her mom also helped introduce her to the biggest names in the music world such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, The Backstreet Boys, and N Sync. The brunette says she grew up in a really good musical environment.

In addition, Dexter says her huge musical influences are Christina Aguilera, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Carrie Underwood.

Savannah further stated that her fascination with old country music, such as Whalen and the Willies, and The Johnnies, didn’t become apparent to her until after her first marriage.

She Started Playing Instrument At 13

Savannah first tried guitar at the age of 13, but soon gave it up and picked it up again at the age of 18.

She said she learned 15 songs the first night she touched the guitar for the second time in her life. After that, she started writing songs herself.

Why Did Savannah Dexter Shift From Country To Hip Hop Genre?

In an interview, Dexter revealed that because of her bad childhood, she gave up or stopped listening to so much country music.

She says that after these depressing times, she turned more to hip-hop and rap. This transition helped her a lot in coping with the pain and aggression. However, she says that she has always been a country girl at heart.

Savannah’s Musical Career So Far

Professionally, Dexter is currently working with the label Mako Music Group, founded by her partner Brabo Gator. He was the one who helped Savannah when she started her music career.

With Brabo’s guidance, Savanna gradually started releasing songs and music videos; in February 2021, she released her debut album, Savages. The collection included 15 songs. It was followed by two more: Genesis and Loner.

Behind-the-scenes singer, Savannah is currently dating Brabo Gator. He is also an artist and the founder of a music company.

Dexter’s boyfriend, Brabo, is a country rap veteran; he has worked with the likes of Jelly Roll, Alexander King, and Stranger Jennings. He also knows the ins and outs of the independent music business.

Savannah Dexter was not sure whether she wanted to go public with her relationship with Gator. The reason she gave was that she was afraid of public opinion.

Savannah Dexter said she had a boyfriend since she was 14 and later married him. However, she revealed in an interview that she tied the knot with him for different reasons.
