From St. Michael’s Barbados, this sweet girl has climbed to the top and according to appearances she intends to keep climbing. She was born Robyn Rihanna Fenty on February 20, 1988, but is widely known by her fans and the world as Rihanna. Her “wind warning” aura is probably what attracts us most to Rihanna (Riri for short) but we all know that she works hard and plays hard too.

Her style and mannerisms had a great influence on the masses she brought back trends like fringes fairy cuts strangling and many girls gave up their bras because Rihanna barely wore one. Rihanna’s tattoos have also been copied by fans around the world and as she has more than one or two it wouldn’t be a bad idea to take a closer look at their appearance and meaning.

Rihanna’s Tattoos

Rihanna’s Hand Tattoos

Rihanna has proven to us that she loves getting a tattoo she has a wide range of tattoos all over her body. These are not the regular neglected and probably poorly presented tattoos she puts reflection and emotion into them. Between her fingers, she has the words ‘Thug Life’ tattooed in pink ink in homage to Late Tupac Shakur. This was done on January 25 2015 by the popular tattoo artist Mark Mahoney.

On July 8 2011 Riri had the word “Love” tattooed on her left middle finger in cursive script. The meaning is not profound and the interpretation is open.

Although she says they are very painful Rihanna got another finger tattooing in June 2008. It says ‘Shhhhh’ on the index finger of her right hand so she can really shut people up without having to say the words how clever! Some celebrities including Lindsey Lohan and Lily Allen copied her tattoo with their fingers.

She must have a high pain threshold because at some point she decided that regular tattoos no longer did it for her so she got a traditional Maori tattoo on her hand with a mallet and a chisel.

She got a tattoo during her 2008 tour in New Zealand. It is a dragon-claw hand tattoo representing Aroha (love) and mana (strength). Although incredibly painful it was not the last traditional Maori tattoo that reached Riri’s skin.

In October 2013 she had a second one. The link was embedded in her skin giving her a bumpy appearance. Although she didn’t say anything about the meaning of the tattoo her artist Inia Taylor suggested that Rihanna’s tattoo means a kind of spiritual purification for her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

Of course, the Barbadian star was not very happy with her new Maori tattoo and a few weeks later she flew to the Dominican Republic with her tattoo artist Bang Bang to cover it with a new henna-inspired tattoo.

Rihanna’s Chest Tattoos

Rihanna’s tattoos are a clear indication that she may have an addiction but she always manages to create a buzz when she gets a new one.

In 2012 Rihanna had a tattoo of an Egyptian goddess on her chest it was under her breast glands but let’s stick to the word chest. This particular tattoo is a tribute to her grandmother who died in July of that year after a long battle with cancer.

When she debuted the tattoo on Instagram she wrote, ‘Goddess Isis – Complete Woman – Model for future generations – #GRANGRANDOLLY – always in and on my heart #1love.’

If we decide to go deeper into the total sum of her tattoos it may take some time to describe them all but in addition to her hand and chest tattoos, Riri has a soft collection.

There is a musical note on her ankle inspired by her musical career a sign of the Pisces behind her ear signifying her sign of the zodiac a prayer in Sanskrit misspelled on her hip and a star in her ear. Do you think she’s not afraid of anything?

But that’s not all she also has an Arabic tattoo on her rib cage that translates as “Freedom in God” she has the popular stars on the back of her neck a skull on the back of her ankle and Roman numerals on her shoulder that translate into her best friend Melissa Forde’s birthday.

If you were hoping that the list was finished sorry to disappoint you you really wonder if there isn’t more space on her little form for all these tattoos. Among Rihanna’s tattoos there is a small gun on her side “never a failure always a lesson” quoted on her shoulder “rebellious flower” which translates as “rebellious flower” at the back of her neck across her collarbone a Tibetan word on her hip a falcon on her ankle and Queen Nefertiti on her side. That makes a total of 21 but there is really no need to count because it is a very short countdown before she receives another one.
