Montel Williams is best known for its TV talk show of the same name, The Montel Williams Show, which became very successful despite the occasional criticism it received. It ran over 17 seasons and earned Williams several awards, including a daily Emmy Award. The syndicated show ended in 2008, after which the creator turned to other interests.

Montel Williams Bio (Age)

Williams was born on July 3, 1956, and was baptized Montel Brian Anthony Williams by his father Herman Williams Jr. He has 5 siblings. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Williams attended Andover High School in nearby Linthicum, Maryland. During his high school years, he was very active, serving as a class president from junior high to senior high school and participating in school sports and music events.

He graduated from high school in 1974 and then enlisted in the US Marine Corps. Wiliams was to become the first African American to graduate from both the Naval Academy Preparatory School and the U.S. Naval Academy. He earned a degree in General Engineering and a minor in International Security Affairs.

Montel Williams served most of his service as a cryptology officer and spent years on submarines. He served a full 15 years and retired at the rank of Lieutenant Commander. As team leader of his crew in the Naval Security Support Department, Williams discovered his flair for public speaking with a focus on youth issues.

This was to inspire him to launch the Montel Williams Show, syndicated by CBS. Williams slowly tried his hand in other areas of entertainment, including acting. After the end of his show, Monte Williams focused on working as a spokesperson for companies such as MoneyMutual and Card Geniuses, a poker teaching company. He has also hosted several commercials.

Is He Gay?

As far as the facts are concerned, Montel Williams is not gay, but a very heterosexual man. His multiple marriages with women are great proof of this fact. However, he is a fervent supporter of LGBT rights, which sometimes makes people wonder if he himself is gay.

Williams once went on air on Billy O’Reilly’s show after plans were changed without notice that he would speak in an LGBT speech he gave earlier in the day.

Wife and Children

Montel Williams has slept with many women in his life, three of whom he led to the altar. At the time of writing this article, the army veteran is married to Tara Fowler, a former flight attendant for American Airlines.

Williams asked her the question in July 2006 in the presence of family and friends while they were having dinner at a restaurant in Manhattan. A little over a year later, in October 2007, the couple got married in a small ceremony on a beach in Bermuda. The couple had no children together.

Before Tara showed up, Williams was with two other women with whom he fathered four children.

His first marriage to Rochelle See, which lasted from 1982 to 1989, produced two children, daughters; Ashley Williams and Maressa Williams were born in 1984 and 1988 respectively. Maressa has successfully won two fights with cancer. She was diagnosed in 2013 with stage 2 Hodgkin’s lymphoma, also known as cancer of the lymphatic tissue. The cancer was discovered after she injured her spine in an accidental fall in October 2013 and several MRIs were necessary to diagnose it. Maressa successfully fought the disease the first time, but it reappeared a second time and she always emerged as the winner.

Her struggles with the disease would inspire her to start a career in healthcare. She is a student nurse and now dedicates most of her time to being an ambassador for the Lymphoma Research Foundation. She has documented her experiences in blog entries, among others for Dr. Oz.

Montel Williams Jr. is an MMA fighter, while Wyntergrace is an aspiring Hollywood actress.

Montel Williams Death

Montel Williams is not dead, but unfortunately not that good. Since 1999 the television personality has been living with multiple sclerosis. Williams had a near-death experience in May 2018 after he found himself in the emergency room, shortly after he had trained alone in a gym in his hotel in New York City. The case was diagnosed as a hemorrhagic stroke. He told The Blast in October 2018 how lucky he was to have survived the life-threatening disease. In an effort to help others, Williams founded the non-profit Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. He is committed to the use of medical marijuana as part of his treatment to combat multiple sclerosis.
