She appreciates her honor very much! Kim Petras (30) won the category “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” alongside Sam Smith (30) at the annual Grammy Awards on Sunday. With the song “Unholy” the two were able to assert themselves against music greats such as ABBA, Coldplay, or Post Malone (27) and Doja Cat (27). The win is very special for Sam’s singing partner because Kim is the first transgender woman to ever win this Grammy category!

On the Grammy stage, the German-born singer announced, “Sam wanted me to accept this award because I’m the first transgender woman to win this award.” Sam then motivated the audience to give his duet partner a standing ovation. Kim continued, “I want to thank all the amazing transgender legends who opened the doors for me to be here today.” The blonde also emphasized that she was particularly grateful to a certain music colleague: Pop Queen Madonna (64). “I don’t think I could be standing here without Madonna’s input,” she said.
