The couple officially divorced in 2015, with Nichols getting away with $43,000 monthly alimony and losing the custody battle to Alex Jones, who was granted full custody of their three children. The three children, including a 14-year-old son and their 9- and 12-year-old daughters, live with him in Austin, Texas, while his estranged wife has limited visiting rights.

However, it has been revealed that Nichols has recently applied for sole or joint custody of her children due to Alex Jones’s erratic behavior. She claimed that Jones was mentally unstable and had committed many crimes that required strict legal measures.

While in April the rumor was widespread that Nichols had won the case to get custody of her three children, Jones immediately held a press conference on Friday, April 28, 2017, to confront the report, which he dismissed as fake. When he quashed the reports saying that he had lost the battle for custody, Jones made a public statement on NBC News saying

“I want to respond to grossly inaccurate media reports that I have lost custody of my children. My ex-wife went to court and asked to become the sole managing conservator of our children and to restrict me to supervised access. The jury strongly rejected her application for sole custody and left us in the same place where we began this terrible journey.
