Jon Dorenbos Father/Parents

Jonathan Paul Dorenbos was born in Humble, Texas, on July 21, 1980, and grew up in Woodinville, Washington, with his parents Kathy and Alan Dorenbos. He grew up with his two siblings Krissy and Randy.

On August 2, 1992, when Jon was 12 years old, tragedy struck his family when his father killed his mother. As the story goes, Jon was the only one at home while his sister Krissy was on a trip to California to visit her grandparents and his brother Randy at a basketball camp.

Alan had pushed his wife Kathy down the stairs after a heated argument, then cleaned up the crime scene and repainted the garage before hiding her body in the trunk of her car. When Lil Jon, who was playing in the neighborhood, came in and asked his father about Mom, he lied about her whereabouts and said she was out with friends. But the guilt overcame him when he turned himself in the next day.

Jon’s father was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 13 years and 8 months behind bars. However, he only served 11 years and was released in 2004.

According to reports, Jon, along with his siblings, has not made contact with their father since his release from prison, except at the time they confronted him in prison at the suggestion of a therapist. However, Jon has said that he has forgiven his father since he was in his twenties.

Jon told the media that he felt guilty if he forgave his father, it would be like abandoning his mother and choosing his father’s side. He said, however, he overcame this thought after realizing that his mother would rather wish him a happy, productive life and help others. Jon said that forgiving his father was the best thing he had ever done.

After his mother’s death and his father’s conviction, Jon lived in a nursing home for a short time before his aunt, his mother’s younger sister, Susan Hindman, obtained custody of him and his siblings and moved with them to their home in Garden Grove, California.

Susan, who was single at the time, took care of her nephew Jon as if she were her own. Jon attended Pacifica High School, where he was a letter writer in baseball, basketball, soccer, and hockey. But no sport could bring him the comfort he found in magic. Jon has revealed several times that magic saved his life and helped him cope with his mother’s death.

Despite his love of sports, Jon aspired as a teenager to become a professional magician one day. Fortunately, his new family, including his grandparents, supported his dreams. Susan even had her friend Ken Sands, who was a professional magician, bring Jon under his guidance to become his mentor and tell him secrets about the craft.

Jon kept those secrets to himself because he is now a professional magician who has shown off his talents in big venues like Las Vegas and Hollywood and even in small places like the locker room where he treats his teammates at a fair. During his audition for the 11th season of America’s Got Talent, he received the Golden Buzzer from singer/songwriter Ne-Yo. Click here to see his auditions.

In the sporting field, Jon chose football as his preferred option. He first attended Golden West College, where he played as a linebacker and fullback. However, before the end of his first year, he received a call from his friend Paul Tessier, who said that the University of Texas was desperately in need of a long snap in the El Paso university team.

Jon heeded the request and traveled to Texas. He graduated from UTEP in 2003 with a degree in Business Administration (Economics, Finance, and Marketing).

Unfortunately, Jon was not selected during the 2003 NFL draft, but the Buffalo Bills decided to give him a try by signing him as an undeveloped free agent. Unfortunately, Jon was dropped after the 2005 training camp. He was then picked up by the Tennessee Titans, with whom he ended the 2005 season, but was dropped from a training camp in 2006.

Frustrated with his NFL results, Jon decided to go to Hollywood full time. But pure luck smiled on him when the Philadelphia Eagles called him in as their long shooter after he lost Mike Bartrum to a horrific neck injury that ended his career.

Jon’s original two-year contract with the Eagles evolved into a 10-year stint with the team. In August 2017, he was transferred to the New Orleans Saints, where a follow-up examination revealed that he was suffering from a condition known as aortic aneurysm, which required immediate open-heart surgery. As a result, he was placed on the Non-Football Injury List (NFI).

Jon successfully underwent the surgery. In an Instagram post dated November 2017, Jon said his football career was over but he still had to officially retire.

His inclusion on the NFI list could affect his salary, but Dorenbos has earned his fair share of NFL money. His last contract with the Eagles before he was sold to the Saints was worth $3,400,000 for three years.

Add in his income as a magician and his sponsorship contracts and Jon Dorenbos’s net worth is estimated at around $2.5 million.

Wife/Girlfriend

Jon married a woman named Annalise Dale in 2017. This was not his first time, however, that he made the covenant for life. From 2010 to 2015 Jon was married to a certain Julie Lynn Lesecki, who runs a spray tanning business. They had met at a corporate event in 2010 where Jon gave a motivational speech. The details of their divorce are not known to the media.
