Jeff Foxworthy was born on 6 September 1958. Gifted with a number of talents, he has distinguished himself as a writer, stand-up comedian, actor, television, and radio personality.

Jeff was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and is the first child of IBM board member Jimmy Abstance Foxworthy Carole Linda Camp Foxworthy. He is of English descent and his roots reach as far as the Essex area. Jeff Foxworthy grew up in a typically Baptist home and remembers accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour at the age of seven, but was warned by his mother who wanted him to grow up and understand the meaning of what he wanted to do. But after Jeff’s persuasion and a visit from his pastor, Jeff was accompanied to church by his mother. Although he was a complaining Christian, Jeff had a problem living by what he felt were “strict rules” often imposed by the church.

Jeff attended Hapeville High School, and after graduation, he enrolled at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. After graduating from Georgia Tech, he spent the next five years working alongside his father at IBM in the mainframe maintenance unit.

Since his high school days, Jeff has always had a reputation for his southern humor and was often the wild card in the classroom. According to Jeff, it was his colleagues at IBM who pushed and encouraged him to pursue his dream of becoming a stand-up comedian by participating in the 1984 Great Southeastern Laugh-off at the Punchline Comedy Club in Atlanta and winning.

This victory was the springboard that his career needed. In 1993 he released his first and probably best comedy album You Might Be a Rednek. It was the subsequent releases in 1995 that earned him a Grammy nomination for the best-spoken comedy album. He made his television debut in 1995 with an appearance on the Jeff Foxworthy Show, a sitcom that reflected his stand-up comedy personality.

In the late 90s, his career shrank a little, but in the early 2000s, he recovered with his Blue Comedy Tour. The Blue Comedy Tour was a sideshow to the comedy troupe he formed with his comedian colleagues Bill Engvall, Ron White, and Larry the Cable Guy. They toured from Nebraska to Washington DC over a period of six years.

Foxworthy has written books, including You, Might Be a Redneck If… 1989 his autobiography No Shirt, No Shoes, and No Problem, which was published in 1996. He is known as a hunting enthusiast, a passion he developed as a teenager hunting with his father on his farm in Georgia.

Jeff is the host of the famous quiz show Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader, which has been on air since 2007. Foxworthy has released six comedy albums during his career and is considered the best-selling comedy recording artist of all time. And to add emphasis, Foxworthy received an award for Best Spoken Comedy Album at the 43rd Annual Grammy’s in 2001.

Jeff Foxworthy met his future wife, Pamela Greggin, on the punchline in his hometown of Atlanta, and the couple made the Covenant on September 18, 1985, Jeff and Pamela were blessed with two children, both girls; Jordan Foxworthy and Julianna Foxworthy. Foxworthy has a sister, Jennifer Foxworthy, and a brother, Jay Foxworthy.

His paternal grandfather is James Marvin Camp. In 2010, the Foxworthy family was plunged into mourning when Jeff lost his first daughter, Jordan, who had just been admitted to college. Jeff has come out to shed light on how depressed the loss of his daughter has left him. In his opinion, he had to rely on the comfort of God to get out of grief.
