Judging by the events of the past, Travis Greene’s musical blessing would not have been, because he died not once, but twice. His life is like a miracle, and it is no surprise that Travis Greene dedicated it entirely to the service of God.
His works in the genre of gospel music are at the top of the charts and are award-winning, but what distinguishes him is the fusion of music and his own ministry, through which he further expresses his passion for spreading the gospel. He is currently the senior pastor of forwarding City Church in Columbia, South Carolina, along with his wife, Dr. Jacqueline “Jackie” Greene.
Who is Travis Greene?
The American gospel artist and the pastor were born dead in Delaware on January 17, 1984, and the doctors had to resuscitate him. This was not his only near-death experience, because four years after his birth he had to be resuscitated after falling from a four-story building in Germany.
Then, in 1989, he lost his father through an aneurysm, so he was raised by his mother, whose affection for music and the Gospel influenced Travis Greene from the cradle. His mother was a pastor and choir director and made it her duty to take her family with her.
Of course, Greene shared his mother’s passion for gospel music, but he waited until 2007 to become a recording artist in the gospel genre. His first offer was released in 2007 on Greenlight Records under the title – The More. This was followed by a studio album called Stretching Out, which was released on June 8th, 2010 at Pendulum Records’ stable. The album took him to number 27 on Billboard’s top gospel album charts. Some of the songs also made it into the charts of the magazine’s Top Gospel Songs.
In 2015, Greene’s song “Intentional” reached number 1 in the Billboard Top Gospel Song Charts. The title was taken from his extended piece of the same song released with RCA Inspiration – the EP reached #3 on the magazine’s top gospel album charts. His second studio album, The Hill, became another chart-topper when it fell back on October 30, 2015, and went straight to #1 on the Billboard Gospel Charts.
Crossover: Live From Music City is Greene’s official third album, which was released on February 2, 2017. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top Gospel Album Charts, while its lead track You Waited conquered the Hot Gospel Songs Charts at #1.
Travis Greene has also performed at events, including prestigious awards such as the 2017 Stellar Gospel Music Awards, where he presented seven trophies, and the Essence Music Festival, Trumpet Awards, among others. He was, however, heavily criticized for being allowed to perform at President Donald Trump’s inaugural ball in 2017.
In addition to his successful music career, Travis Greene is also the pastor and senior pastor of forwarding City Church.
Who Is The Wife, Where is She From?
Greene found a perfect match in Dr. Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Greene (nee Gyamfi) at the Georgia Southern University (Spirit of Truth) campus ministry where Jackie was an undergraduate student and Travis, a graduate of the school, was a constant visitor. They were introduced to each other after Travis served in a church service and socialized with the church. Their relationship did not immediately take off as it took Travis four years to get serious and in December 2011 they sealed their union in holy matrimony. They are parents of two lovable sons.
In addition to being co-pastor of forwarding City Church with her husband, Jacqueline is also a dentist and an inspiring speaker who is dedicated to helping women meet the challenges they face in life. Her origins can be traced back to Ghana.
