When you think of the women’s section of the WWE, think of Sasha Banks aka The Boss. With an early passion for wrestling, Sasha was born to entertain. She started as an independent wrestler in Boston and has worked her way up to the top. The WWE signed her in 2012 and she has become a star with many premieres.
Sasha Banks Wiki (Age and Other Background Info)
Banks was born on 26 January 1992 as Mercedes Kaestner-Varnado in Fairfield, California. Her mother’s name is Judith Varnado. Although the details of her immediate family are not readily available to the media, Sasha Banks has very famous “first” cousins. These include rapper Snoop Dogg, singer Brandy, her brother Ray J and music producer Daz Dillinger. Banks is German and like her famous cousins of African-American descent.
Sasha moved around a lot during her childhood, mainly because of her handicapped younger brother, for whom she tried to find the perfect school. Eventually, they settled in Boston, Massachusetts, where Banks, who grew up wrestling (her all-time favorite in the WWE in the late Eddie Guerrero), began wrestling. She also watched a lot of All Japan Women’s Pro Wrestling.
At the age of 16, she began training at the Woburn-based independent Chaotic Wrestling circuit and started fighting under the name Mercedes KV. Her first fight ever was a gender-neutral team fight. It took two years for KV to win her first women’s Chaotic Wrestling Championship in 2011, but when she did, she proved it was worth the wait. KV successfully defended the title many times and became the longest-reigning Chaotic Wrestling Women’s Champion in history. She broke Alexxis’s 182-day record.
During her time at CW, Sasha also fought in other independent circles such as the New England Championship Wrestling and the National Wrestling Alliance.
Sasha joined WWE in 2012 when she was signed to the development brand NXT. After signing for WWE, she took on the nickname, Sasha Banks.
Her time with NXT ended in October 2015 when she won the NXT Women’s Championship. She had some outstanding moments with the brand, including the NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn match that won Game of the Year at the NXT Year-End Awards. Her NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn: Respect Main Event match was the first 30-minute Iron Man match for women in WWE history.
Sasha then joined the RAW brand in 2016 and won her first match against Charlotte to become the defending champion in the WWE Women’s Championship. She lost the title in a return match but would win it back in October 2016.
Banks made history when she challenged Charlotte in her first women’s game Hell in a Cell against Charlotte to fight for the title. The game also went down in history when it was the first women’s game to be played in a pay-per-view event in Hell in a Cell. Banks lost the game but recovered the title.
Is Sasha Married? Who is The Husband, Fiance, or Boyfriend?
Is Sasha Banks married? Oh, yes, she is. Who’s the husband? A certain guy named Sarath Ton. He’s better known by his nickname, Kid Mikaze, and yes, he’s also a professional wrestler, although nowadays he’s more of a behind-the-scenes guy.
Sasha and Ton have known each other since their time in the independent scene. They worked together, and when Sasha was signed by the WWE, Ton quit his job and moved with her to Tampa, Florida. Triple H heard about Ton not as a wrestler but as a costume designer. As a result, he offered him a job designing his costumes, and soon Ton began working full-time as a costume designer for the WWE.
In case you were wondering, yes, Sasha’s husband is the one who designs all the costumes she wears to the ring.
“He’s like the fashionista. He does everything. I just choose the colors,” Sasha said in an interview with The Project. In the same interview, Sasha revealed the benefits of her husband’s work, including the fact that he can spend a lot of time with her, which also means he can travel with her when she’s on tour.
Sasha and Sarath Ton were secretly married in August 2016. The WWE star revealed that they were keeping the their wedding under wraps because Ton had previously been the victim of online trolling.
