Unfortunately, the big “C” has become an integral part of the world we live in today, and no one is immune, street children, courtesans, government officials, and even actors get it. So today, let’s dive into the life of an actor who is currently involved in the fight, take a look at Hugh Jackman’s cancer and the actor’s family.
Hugh Jackman’s Cancer Operation
The star recently announced by Instagram that he had just gone under the knife to have a sixth trace of cancer removed from his skin. Oops! Hugh didn’t go through the process alone, he’s very open to his fight against cancer since 2013 when doctors first discovered an abnormal mole on his skin.
It wasn’t until Monday, February 13, 2017, that the star drove to Instagram to post a Selfie of him with a patch on his nose and ask fans to wear sunscreen and check themselves regularly. It was very obvious that they were listening, according to Google Trends, there was an immediate increase in the search for basal cell carcinoma that same day.
This is not the first time the star has gone into social media to warn people of the deadly disease that begins as nothing. He was first treated in November 2013 because of the disease, still on his nose, and as we have already mentioned, this is the sixth recurrence.
Hugh Jackman’s cancer led many people to explore what basal cell carcinoma actually means. Here is a little insight; basal cell carcinoma, or BBC, as it is commonly called, is a treatable and common form of skin cancer characterized by lesions or proliferation on the outermost skin layer.
Cancer hardly spreads beyond the tumor site, but it is very likely to disfigure the area after a long period of non-treatment. So if you have something that looks like open sores, red patches, pink growths, shiny bumps or scars, do well to have it checked, as most of them usually end up as cancer after UV exposure and more intense, occasional UV exposure.
That’s all we have about bothersome cancer, everyone wants Jackman to have a quick recovery.
Hugh Jackman’s Family
The star has a very large family, but today everything revolves around its nuclear family. Before we start, it wouldn’t hurt to get to know the rest of his family on a “name basis”. Hugh was born of Christopher John Jackman and Grace McNeil, but from the age of eight, he was raised exclusively by his father.
The star has two brothers and two sisters; his Ralph and Ian Jackman, while his sisters Sonya and Zoe are Jackman. Well, that’s the whole extended family we could dig up, now to his nuclear family.
Hugh Jackman’s Wife
Their nationality is not the only thing these two have in common, yes, Deborah-Lee Furnes is not only Australian but also showbiz. The two actually met on the set of the TV series Correlli, in which she played the title role. Here’s what the actor had to say about his experiences on set.
‘She was the star and I was totally in love with her, everybody did that. The whole crew had a crush on her and I was so embarrassed that I didn’t talk to her for about a week. How did he finally win her over? Here’s a hint, it was about some liquid courage.’
The star gave a dinner party and invited about 20 people, among them Deborah, at some point she had to ask him: “What’s the matter, did I annoy you? You don’t talk to me anymore. What did I do wrong?
Since he already had a few glasses, he was a little relaxed with his answer, ‘Oh, look, I have a crush on you, I can get over it. He never thought her answer would be, ‘Yes, I have one against you too. Needless to say, that was the beginning of something beautiful, now, 22 years later, they still bubble over each other.

Hugh Jackman’s Kids
Unfortunately, the couple experienced two miscarriages when trying to have children, but all hope was not lost when they went to adoption. They now have an 11-year-old daughter named Ava Eliot Jackman and a 16-year-old son named Oscar Maximilian Jackman. The couple actually adopted two racial children and here’s what Hugh had to say about it.
Oscar is a bit of everything – African-American, Caucasian, Hawaiian and Cherokee. We explicitly demanded a Bi-racial child because there was more need. People will wait 18 months to adopt a little blonde girl; meanwhile, bi-racial children are rejected. The same was true for Ava, she is half Mexican, half German.
Needless to say, they form one big happy family.
