The entertainer was born as Cedric Antonio Kyles of Kittrell Kyles and his wife Rosetta in Jefferson City, Missouri, USA. He has celebrated his birthday every 24th April since 1964. Cedric grew up in Caruthersville, Missouri, along with his only sister, Sharita Kyles Wilson. His father worked at the Missouri Pacific Railroad (MoPac) while his mother was a teacher. He attended high school at Berkeley High School in the northern suburbs of St. Loius.
