Benzino is popular not only because of the successful career he has built over the years, but more than that is the controversy he brews. He is an American hip-hop media manager, record producer, and TV personality and was known for his appearances in the VH1 reality TV series Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, his infamous feud with Eminem, and his explosive relationship with his baby mom.

Benzino Biography (Age)

The hip-hop artist was born Raymond Scott on July 18, 1965, in Boston, Massachusetts. He has a mixed pedigree; his mother is of Cape Verdean and German origin, his father of Puerto Rican, and his African-American origin. He grew up with his two sisters Maureen, a doctor, and Anita Scott-Wilson, a veterinarian.

After the release of the hip-hop film Wild Out in 1983, Zino was immediately captivated by the screen and was inspired by it to enter the rap genre. In 1998 he founded the hip-hop magazine The Source together with his long-time friend and later business partner David Mays. It began in May at Harvard University’s Harvard Dormitory May as a single-sheet newsletter but has since become the world’s longest published rap magazine.

Since 2003, it has had a long and widely published dispute with the American rapper Eminem. However, such an incident is not unfamiliar to the entertainment industry, especially among musicians, and diss tracks have served us as offshoots time and again. Just like Ja Rule and 50 Cent, the duo exchanged words in titles like Benzino’s Pull Your Skirt Up and Die Another Day, which was complemented by Ems’ well-orchestrated titles like Nail In The Coffin and The Sauce. Benzino also released a diss mixtape, Benzino Presents: Die Another Day: Flawless Victory (2003), which belittles Eminem and his record company.

To signal the ongoing hostility between them, Benzino used his office at The Source to his advantage against Em. He remained co-owner of the magazine until 2006 when he was forced to resign by the magazine’s private equity investors along with his partner Mays. After a constant back and forth between the two camps, the argument with Zino finally came to an end. Zino explained that the whole drama only served to slow them down and that if he could, he would have solved the situation in a different way.

Benzino is undoubtedly a bundle of talents. He was a founding member of the rap groups “The Almighty RSO” and “Made Men”, where he gathered and refined his skills before beginning his solo career. He has also released a number of compositions and albums, including mixtapes, collaborations, and remixes; The Benzino Remix Project (2002) His solo albums include The Benzino Project (2001), Redemption (2003), Arch Nemesis (2005), and The Antidote (2007). He is also a television personality, having appeared on the reality show Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta on VH1 (2012-2014), which explores the lives and careers of Atlanta-based rappers, and in TV One: 15’s original series The Next (2016), which is dedicated to television’s ex-stars who are now forgotten.

Although his musical endeavors did not bring him much fame, his forays into other arenas brought him much fame. He is a successful producer and entrepreneur. After leaving The Source, he became involved with another magazine called Hip Hop Weekly, which publishes articles on urban music such as rap and hip-hop.
