Will Lionel Messi (35) return to FC Barcelona after all? Actually, a comeback of the soccer professional at the Spanish club seemed impossible for the time being. His father and closest adviser Jorge Messi made it clear a few days ago that the conditions for a return are not met. However, Barca’s current head coach appears to be in good spirits, saying Lionel’s comeback isn’t entirely impossible.

As reported by The Sun, Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez has now commented on a possible transfer of Lionel back to his old club. “He’s my friend. We’re in constant contact. A possible return depends only on him,” said the former kicker. Born in Argentina, he is one of the “best players in history”, which is why FC Barcelona’s goals are always open to him. It is not yet clear where Leo will end up. He is also rumored to have been offered a contract extension with his current club Paris St Germain.

Lionel and Xavi already know each other from the soccer field. The Spaniard himself played for Barcelona until 2015 before moving to Al-Sadd Sports Club from the desert state of Qatar. Xavi ended his active sporting career in 2019 and was then first employed at Al-Sadd as head coach before returning to Barcelona.
