He was the managing director of Pixar Animation Studios – and also the largest single shareholder of the Walt Disney Company. During his lifetime, the co-inventor of the iPod earned billions in contributions – in 2011, Forbes Magazine put his fortune at a whopping $8.3 billion.

In 2004 everything took a sudden turn for the worse for Steve – he had to have a tumor in his pancreas removed. However, this had already spread. After five years, his liver was full of ulcers. A transplant gave him a little time – but cancer came back. On October 5, 2011, the Apple CEO lost his battle with cancer at the age of only 56 – he died in the presence of his wife Laurene Powell (59) and his family.
