Steve Jobs (56) created an empire worth billions. The American entrepreneur is still considered one of the best-known personalities in the computer industry. In 1976 he founded the Apple Computer Company – a little later he launched the Apple-1, which was to revolutionize the personal computer. While his professional life was excellent, health problems bothered him. In 2011 Steve died of cancer. The Apple founder would have turned 68 today…

Steve not only founded Apple but also successfully had his fingers in other companies. He was the managing director of Pixar Animation Studios – and also the largest single shareholder of the Walt Disney Company. During his lifetime, the co-inventor of the iPod earned billions in contributions – in 2011, Forbes Magazine put his fortune at a whopping $8.3 billion.

In 2004 everything took a sudden turn for the worse for Steve – he had to have a tumor in his pancreas removed. However, this had already spread. After five years, his liver was full of ulcers. A transplant gave him a little time – but cancer came back. On October 5, 2011, the Apple CEO lost his battle with cancer at the age of only 56 – he died in the presence of his wife Laurene Powell (59) and his family.
