The music world has a great loss to mourn! Chuck Jackson dropped out of college to sing in a gospel group in 1957 – and it might have been the right decision! That same year he joined the Del-Vikings (aka Dell-Vikings), who had two top ten hits with “Come Go With Me” and “Whispering Bells”. He then broke through as a solo artist with Any Day Now (My Wild Beautiful Bird). But now the singer has passed away at the age of 85…

Dionne Warwick (82), who recorded for the same label as him in the 1960s, paid tribute to her friend: “Another heartbreak hit me. Chuck Jackson is gone. He was my labelmate at Scepter Records and he was like a big Brother to me. I will miss his daily phone calls asking about me and his beautiful voice. Rest in heaven my dear friend,” the singer laments to Deadline.

Ady Croasdell from the British label Kent Records, which had worked on the re-release of Chuck’s music, also confirmed on social media: The singer died at home on February 16. However, he gave no further details about the cause of death.
