Tammi Menendez or Tammi Ruth Saccoman is the wife of Eric Menendez, the infamous Menendez brothers who killed their parents in August 1989.

Although there has been no recent news (from a judicial point of view) on their case, the Menendez brothers have managed to return to the spotlight thanks to their advocates on TikTok. They have also attracted attention on other platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

What is even more intriguing about this case is that Tammi started a relationship with Eric when he was already sentenced to life imprisonment without parole. People criticized her for her unusual denial of their real situation. She even went on to write a book, trying to respond as best she could to the dynamics of her life and that of her imprisoned husband.

Tammi Menendez Is Of Dutch Descent 

Tammi was born in October 1960/61. She did not explicitly mention her father or mother in any of her interviews.

Apparently, enough details regarding her life before her relationship with Eric are still a mystery. However, in her book, Tammi has written that her birthplace was the Netherlands. Presumably, she has an early connection with Keukenhof. Although it is not clear whether she herself was born in this country or only her parents.

Eric and Lil Menendez killed their parents, Kitty and José Menendez, in their Beverly Hills mansion on 20 August 1989. The year was 1989. In two separate trials, the brothers explained that they killed their parents in self-defense. They claimed that their father was sexually abusive and that they feared he would kill them. However, the jurors did not believe this.

Menendez’s husband Eric and her brother-in-law Lil Menendez received life sentences in 1996 for the double murder of their parents. The Other Reason Why The Menendez Brothers Killed Their Parents

On the other hand, prosecutors believed that the Menendez brothers’ main motivation was greed. Karen Ferrell, a friend of Kitty and José, one of the prosecutors, explained that Lil and Eric were afraid of being written out of their parents’ will. Tammi Menendez Married Erik Menendez In Prison

Tammi married her convicted husband Eric on 12 June 1999 in the waiting room of Folsom State Prison.

Eric’s spouse said the ceremony was wonderful until she had to leave. She added that it was a very lonely night. Only a few members of Tammi’s family understood her decision to marry a convicted murderer. She told NBC that her mother supported her decision.

Are They Still Married? 

When it was reported in 2005, Tammi said at the time that she regularly visited Eric in prison, but said she did not like being treated like a convict by the guards. In her book They Said We’d Never Make It, Tammi writes that being married to Eric is a difficult and painful life. She adds that this is mainly because of prison, “this pride-destroying place”. Eric’s spouse explains that it takes almost an hour or more to get in. She also complains that the guards sometimes treat her like a prisoner, without any respect.

What Tammi Menendez Says About Her Convicted Murderer Husband 

Although Tammi admits that Eric did something wrong by killing his parents, she also believes that his parents’ actions encouraged Eric and Lila to kill them. The Dutch woman said that she knows her husband, his heart, and his soul. She also said that she knows what happened that night and understands why the Menendez brothers committed the crime. Tammi then said that every human being, given certain circumstances, “will be able to kill someone”.

Do Tammi And Erik Have Children?

Eric and Tammi do not have children of their own. However, Tammi has a daughter from a previous relationship. Her ex-husband Chuck had committed suicide. It is alleged that she had another daughter from another relationship.

Tammi and her daughter Talia visit Eric every weekend. Her daughter also developed a close bond with her mother’s new husband. She even calls him “earth daddy”.

Why Did Her Ex-Husband Commit Suicide?

In 1996, Tammi discovered that her ex-husband had been in a sexual relationship with her other daughter for three years. She was Chuck’s stepmother. The violence started when the girl was 15.

Chuck turned himself into the police but committed suicide two days later. This left Tammi without a parent to care for her and Chuck’s nine-month-old daughter Talia.

Tammi Menendez Was Dating A Doctor When She First Knew About Erik 

After Chuck’s death, Tammi received a comfortable inheritance from her husband. She had planned to move to Georgia with Talia. She also started seeing the doctor.

In the meantime, however, she also wrote to Eric. When the court ordered the police to transfer Eric to Folsom State Prison, he invited Tammi. So she flew to Eric in August 1997.

After the meeting, Eric persuaded her to be closer to him. Tammi eventually moved to Sacramento and began coming to the prison for visits as often as four times a week.

How Tammi And Erik Began Their Relationship 

Eric’s wife, Tammi, admitted that she began to feel for him after watching his first trial on television.

During the second trial, Tammi developed a bond with Eric. She had sent him a letter during the 2nd trial. The mother of two claims that she had no idea what he was going through emotionally, but she wanted to let him know that there were people who sympathized with him.

To her surprise, the New York-born inmate responded. The exchange of letters later turned into phone calls, and eventually, Tammi visited Eric in prison. Their first meeting was not romantic, but as the visits continued, they developed feelings for each other. As mentioned, Tammi even moved from Minnesota to California to be closer to Menendez.

Eventually, Eric engaged her to a ring during one of his visits in April 1998. He engaged her with a platinum diamond ring.

The couple has been married for seven years. Although they have never spent time with each other, except during prison visits. They have gone to court to have the sentences imposed on her husband and brother-in-law overturned, but the officials have not been so lenient.

How Does Their Marriage Work

Although the court has not allowed Eric and Tammi conjugal visits, they are able to share brief moments of intimacy.

In 2005, the imprisoned wife admitted to People magazine that her life was difficult without sex. However, she says it is not a problem for her. In her book, Tammi writes about how she and Eric manage to have moments of intimacy.

She explains that she reaches up and puts her arm around his neck. Then Tammi leans in until she feels the steady beating of his heart, her breasts meet his chest, and she lowers his head and lifts her lips to his. She writes that she kisses him as she has never kissed him before. After a moment, the security guard taps the microphone.

Do They Have Special Arrangements?

In December 2005, NBC News asked if Tammi and her husband Eric had special arrangements for their marriage, taking into account each other’s situation. To this question, the prisoner’s wife replied, “It’s very important,

“No, not really.”

She explained that her husband would be upset if she started going out to dinner with someone or something like that. Tammi also opened up about the fact that she has no male friends.

Is There A Chance Of Tammi Meeting Her Prisoner Husband Forever 

There has been no movement in their case. And according to reports, it is unlikely that the Menendez brothers will ever leave prison. However, there has been quite a movement lately on sites such as TikTok, Facebook, and Insta to undermine the release of Tammi’s husband and her brother-in-law.

Where Is Tammi Menendez Now?
