The music world mourns the loss of Burt Bacharach. The American was practically born with a passion for music: his mother was a music teacher – later he studied music himself. In 1947 he wrote his first song for the former chart-topper Sammy Kaye. This was followed by works for performers such as Marlene Dietrich (90), Aretha Franklin (76), Tom Jones (82), Frank Sinatra (82), and Jack Jones. But now Burt is dead.

The ‘Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head’ songwriter died of natural causes in Los Angeles on Wednesday, his rep told TMZ. Further details are not known to date. The pianist leaves behind a wife and four children: Lea Nikki, Oliver, Christopher, and Raleigh. His wife Jane Hansen was his fourth wife.

Burt has received several awards for his musical achievements throughout his career. He cleared not only at the Golden Globes but also at the Oscars and the Grammy Awards. In 2015, Rolling Stone magazine named him one of the best songwriters of all time. He finished 32nd out of 100 along with Hal David.
