The actress was born on June 22, 1949, in Summit, New Jersey, as the daughter of commercial artist Mary Louise Streep and pharmaceutical manager Harry. She received her stage name Meryl from her mother, who lovingly called her that. The actress was nominated for 20 Academy Awards and has won three times. She has also been nominated for the Golden Globe 31 times and won eight times.
