Better known under his online pseudonym “KSIOlajideBT” or simply K.S.I., he is a British YouTube personality, video game commentator, rapper, actor and comedian. Riding on his YouTube fame, KSI has effectively taken his musical career to the next level. KSI started “rapping” around the same time the sidemen were founded. His debut EP entitled Keep Up was released in 2016 and topped the UK R&B album charts.
KSI Biography
KSI was born as Olajide William “JJ” Olatunji Jr. on June 19, 1993, in Watford, England. He is of Nigerian descent. His parents Jide and Yinka Olatunji were not happy about his decision to leave school and pursue a career in social media. Both his parents and his brother could be seen in various videos on his channel. In July 2009, he launched his YouTube channel, and by December 2012, he had reached his first million subscribers. His videos usually consist of game videos (especially FIFA), vulgar, often sexual humor, pranks, comedy sketches, and music videos.
With currently over 17 million subscribers on his main YouTube channel, he is ranked 42nd among the most subscribed YouTube channels. He has collected over 3.5 billion views of his videos, which is well over half the world’s total population! And as you know, these statistics are not just for documentation purposes. For the owner of the station, they mean a mega-budget. For KSI, he collected 4.5 million dollars in 2015, which put him in fifth place among Forbes World’s Top-Earning YouTube Stars for 2015.

KSI and the Sidemen Group
He was part of the YouTube group of Ultimate Sidemen, which he founded on 19 October 2013 together with the YouTubers Vikram Barn (Vikkstar123), Josh Bradley (Zerkaa), Tobi Brown (TBJZL), Simon Minter (mini minder), and Ethan Payne (Benzinga); a year later Harold “Harry” Lewis joined them.
But at some point, things went downhill and KSI left the group. He announced this in a tweet in August 2017, citing another member of the sidemen, Ethan Payne, as the reason for his departure. Following this decision, KSI moved from Sidemen House in East London to Los Angeles, California. This triggered a series of events known as the “Sidemen War”. Some diss tracks and insults were exchanged between the KSI and its former sidemen colleagues. At the end of all this drama, the diss tracks were so numerous that KSI summarized them in an EP entitled “Disstracktions”, which is released in September 2017.
You would think that the “Sidemen War 2017” would end after the release of this EP, wouldn’t you? Well, it didn’t. The battle was taken to a whole new level when Joe Weller, a friend of the Sidemen, got involved in the feud. They decided to fight the battle in a boxing ring, Anthony Joshua style! KSI and Joe Weller will fight against each other in an official boxing match on Saturday, February 3rd. The fight was announced on Upload 2016, an event hosted by the YouTube influencers.
The fight has attracted so much attention that KSI and Joe Weller are using their different YouTube channels to promote it. This fact has made many wonder if the feud was real or just another trick of these YouTube entrepreneurs to make more money with their fans?
Controversy and Records
The KSI was at the center of a scandal following its actions at a Eurogamer event in 2012, where participants in the event were allegedly sexually harassed, causing Microsoft to sever all connections with the player permanently and to exclude him from the Eurogamer event for life. Microsoft terminated its contract with him in support of the Xbox One the following year.
He once held the Guinness World Record title for the highest winning streak against the computer at FIFA 13, scoring 190 goals.
KSI lived in South East London with Miniminter, Vikkstar123, and Zerkaa at Sidemen House when he was part of the group. He had also appeared in many videos with all the sidemen.

The younger brother of KSI, Deji Olatunji, is also a YouTube personality, better known as ComedyShortsGamer. He and his brother Deji ranked first and second in the UK’s most influential YouTube creators.
At the moment KSI seems to be single. Money cannot buy love, they say. Well, he wasn’t always single. He was in a relationship with Seana Cuthbert, another YouTube blogger. She’s known online under the pseudonym “Seanyyyy”. The relationship ended after two years because Seanyyyy felt the need for attention. After all, KSI was too busy with his YouTube career and the other things he wanted to do in his life and didn’t give her the attention she wanted.
