Ian Clark is a pro-American basketball player who holds the position of Shooting Guard for the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans. He began his professional career when he signed with Utah Jazz as an undeveloped free agent after the NBA draft in 2013. The NBA Guardsman was born on March 7, 1991, as Ian Patrick Clark in Memphis, Tennessee. He is of African-American origin and his parents are Jon Clark (father) and his wife Shelbia Clark. He grew up in Memphis, where he attended Germantown High School in Germantown, Tennessee. While there, Clark was taught basketball for four years. He was both an above-average player and a multidimensional guard for the Red Devils team.

In his last three high school seasons, Clark led his school team in scoring, averaging 5.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 23 points per game. Throughout his high school basketball career, Clark has been voted All-Metro Team three times and in his senior year, he received the Tennessee All-Region Team award. By the end of his high school career, Clark was highly rated by media sites such as Rivals.com, Scout.com, and ESPN. After completing his high school career at Germantown High, Ian Clark went to Belmont University where he continued to play college-level basketball. In his freshman year 2009, the star won the Freshman Player of the Year award after scoring 3.3 rebounds and 14.9 points per game. In addition, he was elected to the Mid-Major Freshman All-American Team and the A-Sun Second Team at the end of the season.

As a sophomore, Clark led the Bruins to win the A-Sun Championship title, winning the Atlantic Sun award for most valuable player of the year. He was also voted into the NABC All-District 3 second team and Atlantic Sun first team after averaging 12.2 points per game. In the 2011/12 season, he averaged 2.4 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and 12.7 points, while he was named to the A-Sun first team for the second consecutive season. In his last college season, Clark averaged 2.4 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 18.2 points per game. At the end of his college career, he was named defensive player of the year, while he was also a co-recipient of the OVC Player of the Year award.

During the 2013 NBA Draft, Ian Clark was not called up because he failed to reach the height standard for NBA Shooting Guard players. After the draft, he joined the Miami Heat for the NBA Summer League and later led the Golden State Warriors to victory in the Las Vegas Summer League. He scored a total of 33 points and was named MVP of the league. Clark subsequently signed a two-year contract with Utah Jazz.

In the 2013/14 season, Ian Clark shared his time between Jazz and its G-League subsidiary Bakersfield Jam. In 2015 he was assigned to the Idaho Stampede and recalled in March. At the end of March 2015, Jazz decided not to participate in the Idaho Stampede. He was then recruited by the Denver Nuggets, and in September 2015 he signed with the Golden State Warriors.

As a member of the Warriors, who played alongside Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Klay Thompson, among others, Clark led the team to the 2016 NBA final but lost to the Cavaliers in seven games. Clark averaged 1.0 assists and 3.6 points per game this season. The following year he signed an extension of his contract with the Warriors. For the second year in a row, Clark led the Warriors into the NBA finals; this time they beat the Cavaliers 4-1 to win the title. He had an average of 1.2 assists and 6.8 points per game.

In August 2017 Ian Clark signed with the New Orleans Pelicans and after the 2017/18 season he signed with the New Orleans Pelicans; he scored 1.5 assists and 7.4 points per game. In 2018 Clark was granted a contract extension by the Pelicans.
