The fame of the “Back to the Future” franchise has much to do with the brilliance of Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, who played the roles of Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown, respectively. Interestingly, Lloyd declined the role and only played it at his wife’s urging and while reading the script.

The American film of 1985 (Back to the Future) was a science fiction movie, which was shot with a budget of 19 million dollars. The film was a huge success with a gross box office of $389.1 million. The great success and the great acceptance led to the production of a sequel, “Back to the Future II” in 1987. This also gained wide recognition, although not as much as the original film. Back to the Future III was released the following year.

This trilogy led to a franchise that includes animated television series, a musical performance, and a series of video games, soundtracks, theme park attractions, a comic book series, and also some published books. Below are the facts about the man who played Dr. Emmett in the trilogy.
