Nothing is known about Shmurda’s youth, his family relationships and his school activities. Shmurda had his fair share of trouble with the law. Once he spent fifteen months in jail for violating his parole. He was also arrested for illegal possession of a firearm, but the charges were later dropped.

Bobby Shmurda is the leader of a rap syndicate called GS9, although the law did not recognize them as another rap group. According to Shmurda’s indictment, GS9 was a crime syndicate led by him. They were seen as an organization that was regularly involved in all kinds of crime along East Flatbush to King’s Highway. The list included disputes with rival gangs, drug dealing, non-lethal shootings, and even murder.

Bobby’s popularity and fame continued to grow as he introduced ‘shmoney dance’. He did so by releasing a video with the original choreography he did in 2013. This increased the popularity of the song on video sharing platforms like Vine, and very soon the ‘shmoney dance’ memo was created. The dance was performed mainly by veteran singer Beyonce while she was on her On the Run tour. It was also used by rapper Drake at the ESPY Awards 2014.

The song landed on the Billboard Rap Digital charter, finishing 21st and 6th on the Billboard Hot 100, and the song also went platinum. The success of the song meant that he was able to get the top acts Chris Brown, Jadakiss, and Busta Rhyme to remix the song.

Bobby also debuted on television with a guest appearance in an episode of the fourth season of Real Husbands of Hollywood. 2014 continued to prove to be a good year for Bobby Shmurda. He was on stage with American rapper Meek Mill and signed a record deal with Epic Records.

This year there was another remix of Hot Nigga, which expanded the roster compared to the first remix. Bobby then started working on his debut album, which was to be released under Epic Records. The album, which was produced by Jahlil Beats, was to be released in 2016. Unfortunately, this did not happen and the album was suspended due to Shmurda’s imprisonment.

The police, who claimed to have monitored Shmurda long before his rise to fame, arrested him on two occasions in 2014. The second arrest involved his brother Javese and his GS9 colleague, Rowdy Rebel. He was charged with possession of drugs and weapons, reckless endangerment, and conspiracy to commit murder. He pleaded not guilty and his bail was set at $2 million.

Officer James Essig was the head of the NYPD unit that made his arrest. The officer said that Bobby’s writings were like a real document of his life on the street. In his hit single Hot Nigga, Shmurda had been rapping about how he had been selling crack since the fifth grade because Jaja (God) had shown him. He had also bragged about the past and future murders of his crew.

Shmurda, who was facing a maximum sentence of 8 to 25 years, claimed the officer’s views and said that his lyrics reflected his real life. However, the New Jersey Supreme Court ruled that the texts could not be accepted as evidence in a trial unless there was clear evidence that they related to a specific crime.
