Lucy Hale (33) breaks her silence. The actress went public with a sensitive topic a few days ago: she said that she hadn’t drunk alcohol for a year. On this occasion, she shared a post in which she informed her community about her personal experiences, among other things. In an interview, the Pretty Little Liars actress spoke publicly for the first time about her addiction and withdrawal.

On the podcast The Diary of a CEO, the 33-year-old revealed she’s been trying to sober since she was in her 20s. Lucy is said to have sought self-confidence in drinking: “The alcohol is not the problem, the problem is this feeling in me.” According to their own statements, it was a “self-destructive coping mechanism” for them. Now Lucy is on the mend: “I’m just always trying to surround myself with better people and be the best possible version of myself.”

In the podcast, she also reported on another illness. “I’ve struggled with an eating disorder because society makes it really hard to like the way you look,” Lucy explained.
