Veronica Rubio is a photographer, best known as the ex-wife of Puerto Rican actor Carlos Ponce. Rubio and Ponce were married for almost a decade and a half but divorced in 2010. She is also the sister of a politician, lawyer, and Senator Marco Rubio.

She has a total of six children from two marriages. Although her life with Pons has been well documented by the tabloids and the media, her exploits after her divorce from the actor have hardly been talked about.

Veronica has developed well after her divorce from Pons; in fact, she is raising two children with her future partner. So who was she actually married to? Are they still together? What does he do professionally? Find out in the article below.

Veronica Rubio Is A Daughter Of Cuban Immigrants

Rubio was born in Miami, Florida, on 24 November, probably around 1972. She is the daughter of Mario Rubio Reina and Oriales Rubio (née Garcia), who is Cuban-American by nationality.

Her father, Mario, and mother, Oriales, emigrated to the United States from Cuba in 1956 during the Fulgencio Batista regime. Verónica’s maternal grandfather, Pedro Victor Garcia, also came to the United States around the same time. Her grandfather left Cuba after suffering hardships, including the loss of his wife.

This move apparently took place two and a half years before Fidel Castro came to power in the Caribbean country. The latter statement, however, raises a number of suspicions (more below).

Her parents became naturalized US citizens in 1975. Rubio lost her father in 2010 (aged 83) at Baptist Hospital in Miami after a long battle with emphysema and lung cancer.

Nine years later, on 27 September 2019, the photographer also lost her mother. The blonde actress’ brother, Marco, joined his social network Instagram to announce the news. “My mom Oria Rubio returned to the Lord on Friday night,” wrote Veronica’s older brother.

Her Siblings

Besides Marco Rubio, there are two other siblings, Mario and sister Barbara Rubio. They are also older than the former Mrs. Ponce. All the Rubio siblings lived with their parents in Las Vegas, Nevada, in the late 1970s and early 1980s. At first, they lived as travelers, splitting their time between New York and Los Angeles. But Veronica’s parents lived most of the time in the Miami area.

As a child, Rubio, her two brothers, and her sister grew up Catholic, but in Nevada, the family attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

While living in Vegas, Rubio’s father Mario worked as a bartender at Sam’s Town Hotel and was a crossing guard at the school. Her mother was a chambermaid at the Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino and used to work on the shelves at Kmart.

Veronica Rubio’s Brother Is A US Senator

Veronica’s older brother Marco Rubio is the oldest US Senator from the state of Florida. Marco, a Republican who was born on 28 May 1971 in Miami, was formerly Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. He is also a lawyer. He is also the first Cuban-American to become Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives.

Marco Rubio, Senator Rubio’s brother, has been married to his wife, Janet Dousdebes, since 1998. Dousdebes is a former bank teller and cheerleader for the Miami Dolphins. The couple reportedly married in a Catholic ceremony at the Church of the Little Flower. Together, Marco and Dousdebes are the parents of four children.

Did Her Family Really Leave Cuba To Escape Castro’s Regime?

Marco Rubio, the brother of Veronica’s political figure, has sometimes spoken of how his family fled Cuba in 1959 after Fidel Castro came to power.

However, in October 2011, a review of documents – including his parents’ naturalization papers and other official records – revealed slightly different facts. The documents showed that Veronica’s parents arrived in the US more than two and a half years before Castro’s forces overthrew the Cuban government.

Veronica Rubio Was Married To Puerto Rican Actor, Carlos Ponce

The daughter of Cuban parents, Veronica Rubio was quite affectionately related to the Puerto Rican actor and singer Carlos Ponce. The couple married in the mid-1990s.

Some even claim that Veronica and Marco were high school sweethearts.

During their 14-year friendship, they welcomed their first child, their son Giancarlo, in 1999. Two years later they were joined by their son Sebastian. The former husband and wife also adopted twin daughters Savannah and Siena from Russia.

The photographer and the Couples Retreat actor finalized their divorced in 2010. The ex-couple, however, never really talked about what actually went wrong between the two.

In 2017, during an appearance on the TV program Un nuevo dia, Ponce said that he and Veronica, in total, had spent 23 years. Ponce recently acted in Netflix hit series, The Five Juana starring alongside Oka Giner, Zuria Vega, Renata Notni, Juana Arias, and Sofia Engberg.

Life After Divorce; Veronica Married Again And Have A Family After Separating From Ponce

As of the present, Veronica doesn’t seem to have a romantic partner. Nor does she seem to be in some sort of a marital union. As evident from her socials, she appears devoted to spending most of her time with her children and her two younger kids.

The Latina photographer in addition to her four children with Ponce also has two more kids, a girl named Jaylah and a boy, Tony.

What’s interesting though is the fact that Veronica hasn’t mentioned much about the father, other than his name is Chris Boulos. She though has confirmed that she divorced their father, who apparently is of Hispanic origin and a Florida resident. Rubio has also revealed that the separation which happened in March 2018 was something that Jaylah and Tony didn’t take well.

On the other hand, her celebrity ex-husband Ponce is now the husband of Enamorándonos host Karina Banda.

Two years earlier prior to dating Banda, Carlos had dated Colombian actress Ximena Duque for about six years before splitting in 2016.

Savannah displays her skills on her Instagram as well as on her website. She has even shot her stepmother, Banda.
